Hi verg
We'll forgive you (if I may speak for everyone)
Why exactly do you ask this question, has anyone been telling you that you are imagining things?
A Jarisch-Herxheimer Reaction is the result of endotoxins released into the bloodstream by dying spirochetes (killed by abx for instance). The body's immune system then responds to the endotoxins and the concurrent release of cytokines (i.e., tumor necrosis factor, interleukin 6, and interleukin 8) which are chemical messenger molecules of the immune system producing exaggerated symptoms lasting 3 days up to several weeks.
This is what you get when googling Herxheimer Reaction.
I could show you one of my blood tests from last summer.
My dr did a cytokine panel on my blood.
Interleukin 8 (IL-8) has to be between 0,00 and 15,00 - mine was 60.400,00
Interleukin 6 (IL-6) has to be between 0,00 and 5,00 - mine was 4.500,00
This was a clear and black on white written proof that my herxes are very intense.
I get weak legs, I can barely get up the stairs when I'm herxing, sometimes it feels as if I'm walking through a thick substance.
Please don't loose courage. Herxing always gets me really depressed. Keep in mind that it is not you talking, but your body reacting to treatment.
There are a lot of success stories here. Violets just posted one a few days ago, she has been off antibiotics for 8 years and is doing very well! If you go through the threads, you'll see that some of our members come back or stay, it's a great push for us in believing we will get better.
