Upper eyelid edema intermittent for three years. Anyone!?!?!

The edema has been constant for a week now. I feel disfigured, has anyone had this with chronic lyme? I didn't pay much attention in the past, as it would come and go and I chalked it up to pregnancies and lack of sleep etc.... Now bilateral upper eyelid puffiness especially near the inner corners. Has anyone had this and what did you do? Did it go away?

Don't know --- but LD can cause eye problems of various sorts. Also, hypothyroidism. Unfortunately, allopathic docs are doctrinaire about the use of T4 as the ONLY supplement for hypothyroidism. Few have read about how elevation in cytokines, which occurs in various tick borne disease and CFS, can interfere with the conversion of T4 to T3 (the ACTIVE form of thyroid hormone). Therefore, it is possible that many peopel can be clinically hypothyroid even though there lab tests for T4 look normal.

I have no idea if this applies in your case, but it's a rarely known fact.

Also, HYPERthyroidism can cause changes in the eyes.

I was diagnosed with hashimotos at age 9. I've been on synthroid since age 15, and currently am on 125mcg with my most recent TSH 1.7....

I have upper eyelid retraction in my right eye even though my thyroid checks out normal. I do feel a bit disfigured though not everyone notices.

My thyroid autoimmune antibodies are normal but my theory is at one point they were not and attacked the eye causing this. The literature does mention Lyme as a rare cause so I'm going with that.
