My first post although I have been here taking notes for a long long time. I really admire how supportive you guys are of one another. So very much needed by people sick with lyme. What a battle it feels like sometimes.
Not sure my signature stuff will show up so I will just give brief background. Treating CFS and MTHFS with a variety of methylation protocols. Found out I had lyme 2 years ago and went on Buhner protocol for about 3-5 mos but had to quit due to some upheaval in my life. Then found out I had CPN and noticed Buhner had come out with a new CPN protocol. I decided to start with treating that first and had a consultation with Buhners partner Julie who added a lot more stuff to the core CPN treatment of Buhner's After about 4 weeks or so based on my symptoms during herxes she felt like I have Babesia and added about 4 more tinctures, there were many crossover tinctures I was on already.
I have a couple of things on my mind right now I am on so many tinctures I worry about the amount of alcohol I take in every day. Maybe I'm being paranoid. Plus all of a sudden I am feeling really flat not exactly depressed but flat its the only way I can describe it. Not normal for me.
Also I noticed some of you have had success with just herbal teas instead of tinctures and I really want to learn more about that plus it may be a gentler less expensive way of dealing with my Lyme/CPN/Babesia. So I'm here to learn!!

Welcome to the forum! It seems you've already learned quite a bit, so that's good. Some people more knowledgeable will respond to your questions. Good luck with your treatments!

I worry about that too (on the Cowden protocol). What is CPN? How were you able to reach his partner? Could you email me? Still looking for someone to guide me through all this.

Its probably best if you get guided through on this site so others can join in and may have quite a lot of experience with herbal protocols

PLUS There may be others on the forum who are new and need help and it helps to increase the amount of stored information when people do searches now and in the future

The thing about alcohol tinctures is how wonderfully effective they are because they have alcohol. Julie, Buhners partner explained that to me. Right now I am taking 14 tinctures 3x a day, thats a lot of alcohol! So I am doing searches here to gather info about buying these herbs in bulk for making tea.

Its perhaps slower method, but from what I am reading others here are having good results from taking this route…plus I imagine its much less expensive.

So right now I am sticking with my tinctures until I finish them up and in the meantime trying to learn more about the tea route or decoction??

But I know there are some that both Buhner and his partner Julie feel are best done as a tincture. Of the herbals I am on Julie said houttuynia,chinese skullcap, reishi & cordyceps would be fine as a tea.

But still if I could cut the tinctures down to 3 or so I don't think I would worry about it.

Welcome to our community!! I'm so happy that you chose to formally join us!! With your experience with Buhner's protocols, I'm sure that you will have lots of questions being asked of you! :-)

As for your concerns about the amount of alcohol that you are taking, what has Julie and/or Stephen said about it? What about switching to tinctures that don't use alcohol - I believe most alternatives use cider vinegar?

I see you're another 40-year veteran! I'm so very sorry!

Hi Traveler I have not asked Julie yet but will. Have not seen most of the herbs I use with vinegar. Some with glycerin but not many but it seems to me if your going to pay for tinctures($$) alcohol is the best delivery system as it easily permeates mucus membranes. I see you do lot of teas. Has that worked well for you?
That may be my future plan for cutting down the alcohol It is possibly slower but if it works thats ok.

Yes, I did use two different medicinal teas for my treatments and needed nothing else other than supportive herbs and acupuncture. I'm now at 2 yrs post Lyme & Bart treatment and doing well and 12 yr post Babesia treatment and doing well! It was definitely the right route for me to have taken!

I thought I had seen some made with glycerin - but was afraid to say so since my memory isn't all that it should be! LOL!

Have you just done internet searches to see if any of the tinctures are made with something other than alcohol? A bit tedious, but it could turn up some good info.

I think I am Traveler. For one thing I have suffered from a kind of narcolepsy which resulted in severe daytime sleepiness. This has been with me for over 20 years. It all of a sudden seems to be gone! As much as it has interfered with my life not sure how I feel about it being magically gone…..I will miss my afternoon nap! I mean I could lay down on a couch in the middle of a crowded
loud party and go to sleep.

I have had some pretty bad herxing and I am only up to 1/2 of the required dose. Especially very swollen lymph nodes, fever and zapping head pains but the last couple of days I have seen quite a bit of improvement.

Today after doing searches here on detox baths I tried one and it really invigorated me.

I just received my Babesia tinctures so have yet to introduce them into the protocol I imagine there will be some repercussions Will update
