Some of You Need to Start Kissing!!!

Good article, but personally, with the issues that lyme/co may be contracted via sex, this scares me. I'm sad to think that I may have passed this on to my fiance. What was once a positive part of my life, I now see as not such a positive part. : (

Sorry to bring any down with my thoughts, just wanted to share.

I can certainly understand how you might feel about the issue, and I do not judge your opinion, but I have a completely different opinion about germ theory. I agree with the statement that Louis Pasteur supposedly made on his deathbed. He was the father of "germ theory". He supposedly recanted the fruit of his life's work and made this statement on his deathbed- "the microbe is nothing, and the environment is everything".

Some lyme researchers have stated that they have a difficult time in finding people that have never been exposed to the borrelia bacteria when they try to estasblish an uninfected control group for their research. The germs are everywhere.

My wife has repeatedly been shown to carry borrelia bacteria in her body for the last 6 years, but has never had any symptoms. My wife is a great kisser and I avail myself of that opportunity whenever I can! I have never gotten the illness either.

I have found blood engorged ticks on my body on numerous occasions over the years, but I have never gotten sick from tick bites. Is it really possible that I have defied the odds when the vast majority of ticks carry disease organisms?

It is obvious to me that most people's immune systems are competent enough to prevent the borrelia from taking over, whether the microbes are completely eradicated or not. How ironic that this 19th century microbiologist came to a knowledge of a truth that remains elusive to so many of the modern physicians.

Lets just think about what happens when a person is infected. The insect vector is often a teensy eensy little larva or nymph that is so tiny that they can barely be seen by the human eye. They excrete a very small amount of saliva that may contain a relatively small amount of pathogenic microbes into the hosts body while sucking blood. The vast majority of people don't get sick when that happens, while some do.

My daughter was sick for 6 years, but was effectively treated and is now perfectly healthy. She was tested and had a CDC positive recent infection this past August, but is healthier and stronger than a horse. I propose that the mere presence of the microbe has very little with defining "Lyme Disease".

Once again, I am not trying to be critical of your opinion and sensitivities in the matter. I am just trying to present what I feel is a more realistic and liberating perspective. Since our family is well past the LD crisis, I have little function on a forum such as this, but to present a philosophical basis on how to understand the real issues of the illness as i see them.

I am also very excited that you have found a competent LLND, and that you have real hope for the future!!!

You had me laughing as soon as I saw the subject! LOL. I'll make sure my dh doesn't see this since he works from home. My dh has never been tested, but he's doing pretty well, so I don't think I've infected him. I was so very ill in my 20s, which was a long time ago, so he could've gotten ill then too, but he didn't.

I think this board needs more things for a laugh. I think it helps to take ones focus off their discomfort and pain sometimes and reduces the stress. It does that for my daughter.

Dr. Mercola's girlfriend has Lyme disease too.

And Don, you do have a function on this forum. People need to hear about others healing and getting on with their lives and you also have knowledge to share from your experiences with Heather.

I doubt Lyme is contracted by kissing.

As far as the transmission via sexual intercourse, I thought that only occurred if the male had Lyme (ie, through semen).

I guess it could be like AIDs, ie if there is a cut of some sort, then obviously, blood could contain the pathogen.

We need not to be too paranoid, the way people were during the AIDs epidemic, or folks will start, literally, avoiding us like the plague.
