Any else young adults on this forum with Lyme?

Just wondering, because it seems like there aren't many my age that have it as well on this forum, and I'm just wondering if there's any out there. I'm a 22 year old male.. My LLMD told me I was lucky to get it around this age rather than later.

Not 22 but I'm far from a grandparent. You are right it's not lucky to have lyme at any age. I had my children and didn't know I was infected so thy need to be seen by an LLMD as well. My 11 yr old is the most symptomatic.

Gotta stay positive. I know for me I will never completely get rid of it outside of an act of god. I want to et as healthy as I can, I want to downhill ski, horseback ride and water ski again. I wmat to take my kids hiking (well I'm not so sure now..) but you catch my drift.

Young people get lyme, I was 9 yrs old and they called it the flu.

Good or be pain free. This is because I was in 3rd grade when symptoms began. For me I had two babies back to back in the past couple years and it sent me I to a downward spiral with new symptoms and scary stuff at that, even scarier then what of been dealing with for so much of my life. I just never knew what it was, I was told I had "panic attacks". Well I do but I have much more than that as most of us do. There was a time where I could still push myself to be active, however as a teen and early 20s I'd get out of the shower and think "oh my god I'm so exhausted, I can't go out with my friends tonight!" I felt too tired to do my hair and I'd think what's wrong with me? Then I'd think "what if I get theat tingling and have a panic attack and have to leave?". So in a nutshell I never felt "good". However I was able to "mostly" keep
Up with my friends with a lot more effort than the average person would have to apply.

I don't have Lyme, but my Girlfriend does. She's 21, and I am 22.

Technically we're separated right now due to MANY issues. But I've been researching Lyme consistently as of recent times and looking for anyway to help her when she is ready, her llmd has not said anything about her being "Lucky" to have gotten it at a young age, but I feel that a younger body's ability to bounce back will be quite the ally in this fight against this ailment, plus support. Support, support, support.

My girlfriend doesn't really cook/hasn't had the opportunity to learn, home life isn't exactly the greatest either. No support from family, "she's just exaggerating, faking it for attention," etc.

While she's not with me right now I'm learning all I can about her condition (every infection is different depending upon the person) and the treatment her llmd has put her on for a start (GAPS diet/detox).

So that's where the cooking comes in and whatnot. Just ordered a specific GAPS diet cookbook just for this, and once she is fully committed to the diet, I plan on doing it with her. Anything to help.

But from what I'm reading is that there is a lot of hope, and hope is key, even though sometimes it may not seem like it. I know I don't have Lyme, but in it's own way, it's just as hard for me. Just in a different way. And being a male, I always want to fix things. This is something I need patience with.

it's a process, but that's what it's like from the other side of the spectrum for those of you that have close people trying to support you.

My suggestion is show them this site. =] if they're true about supporting you and understanding they will gladly be open to learning.

I busted out laughing when I read that. Mostly because I remember that just a few years ago I too used to think that anyone over 30 was old and grampa like. Oh wait! I just remembered that I am a grampa!
