If anyone is looking, Dr. L. in Pawling is wonderful, and always has been. He's featured in the Pamela Weintraub book (am I correct about her last name?). He's very nice, and his staff, though typical New Yorkers, are fine. He figures prominently in ILADs, and is well-known in the Lyme LLMD community.

He's NOT egotistical at all.

He doesn't use alternative meds, but is starting to research it extensively, and does recommend Buhner. For c. diff. related sensitivity to abx or herbal abx, he recommends hyperbaric oxygen, something called hyperthermia, possible biooxidative medicine, and so on.

He thinks there's something to the Plum Island theory, which I thought sounded like a conspiracy theory, but now I'm wondering if it's true.

He's very thorough, and very careful, the last of which could have its drawbacks. To do ivs, he has to be in direct contact with a doctor who does them (if you're not nearby).

That sounds good. Hopefully he will help you a lot. It's good to hear he's studying the alternative meds. Not many MDs would step down to that level (as they would say). I think it's a step up myself. It will be good for him to have the extra knowledge since so people who prefer the natural route will have his help too.

Actually, he's not my new doctor; he's been my LLMD for awhile. I'm still looking for an herbalist, or whatever. I just happened to be very happy with our phone conversation today, and very impressed that he is now studying alternative medicine for Lyme.

He likes Buhner, so I ordered the HEALING LYME book, and am going to try to get in touch with Buhner's herbalist.

He also mentioned non-antibiotic or antimicrobial alternatives: Hyperbaric oxygen, Rifing, and Hyperthermia, which is how you would use a FAR infrared sauna.

thanks for the post teragram. i am thinking of going to see him, i am 20 minutes from pawling. glad to hear a good story. there is also the llmd in hyde park. one of the best in the world but with experience comes the hefty price tag, and with my circumstances (separated parents, part time job, student etc i dont know how i can afford even though that is where i want to go)

Well, Dr. L. also comes with a hefty price tag. Something around $600 per visit, and $300 for phone consult, not to mention labs.

You can try to send your paperwork to the insurance to get reimbursed?

Hyde park? Thats dr h..... 1000-1500 for initial consult but his practice is currently closed.he trained my dr. And my doctor was one of his patients for 6 yrs.

I've heard good things about Dr. L in Pawling but he charges about 2 grand for the initial visit or at least he did last year when I called and inquired. Surprised he would be more than the famous Dr. H.

Yes my therapist who happens to be a patient of Dr H said it was 1000-1500 for the initial consult. I went to someone he trained instead. He isn't really seeing many patients anymore at least not new ones. His PAs are doing it, there are down sides to seeing a famous dr. You may not get the attention you would with someone else. So someone he trained who is constant contact with him and retired Dr B was a good choice for me.

Yes that is dr h in Hyde park. I am 20 ish minutes from there as well I guess the fame got to him lol I would like to try to see him but did not know his practice is closed for now :( hopefully one of my parents could help out with the funds. I am very hopeful for fixing this and beating ld so I can get my life going.

I don't remember being charged that much for my first visit with Dr. L. And he will see you personally, that's certain; he won't fork you off to a PA like so many LLMDs (and doctors) now do.

He's very considerate, thorough, and professional, and he'll definitely give you a lot of attention.

I tried to get a copy of his notes once, as I lost my copy, and he had 100 pages or more of notes on me.

Dr. H. no longer takes new patients.

I'd go with Dr. L., but mention my name (Margaret from NC).

Good luck with funding.

Does he do supplements to boost immune system? I wanted to go to someone who does burascano but dr he is out of the question.

Hi dvlsfan,

I'm so sorry your parents separated, that alone must be cause so much stress and anxiety for you. 

Also, something just dawned on me as far as your thoughts about dying, etc.  It may be possible that you may have ammonia in your brain which can cause everything you are feeling and thinking.    Have you considered trying a supplement that helped me?   I took Dr. Jernigan's Neuro-Antitox CNS/PNS formula which bound up all that ammonia in my brain and body and purged it right out.

DVL, I don't know if he does that or not.

The best supplement for the immune system is Xymogen's IgG 2000 DF. When I started taking that, I was able to stop my Immune Globulin IVs.

Buhner's assistant recommended Echinacea, ginger, and licorice in tincture form, and she said mix and take 1 tsp 6 x a day, but was for C. Diff., so maybe you should reduce the dose, but that was for immune system problems.

I would go with the Xymogen first. I had a severe immune globulin deficiency, and it's gone!
