Hello,
I have just been diagnosed with Lymes disease and have been diagnosed with OCD well before Lymes. The doctor doesn't know how long i have had lymes disease but she does know since 2008 because of blood work that was taken by another doctor but wasn't detected. I know that Lymes disease and OCD go hand in hand. But i was just looking to see if anyone has had this experience before. Should i be treating Lymes disease along with OCD or leave one alone?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank.

Welcome to the forum Frank!
I haven't had much OCD, so I can only guess. Personally, I'd just go after the Lyme and see if it would resolve, just because I'm not a big believer in treating illnesses individual symptoms. I like to start with the root of the cause. Also, diet plays a big role in the battle with Lyme.
Have you been tested for co-infections too, since they also contribute to some of the symptoms?
If you haven't already done, I'd suggest you read through the "New to Lyme?..." thread at the top of the page. You can learn a lot there and have a better understanding of Lyme and co.

Thanks for reply. I will read the new lyme. One question how much of your diet plays a role in Lymes disease?

A lot of it does. I buy my meat from farms who raise their animals on a species appropriate diets, such as cows who feed on grass and hay. I don't eat food with gluten and I don't eat grain much at all. i buy organic produce and I limit my fruit intake because of the sugar. I drink kefir for the probiotics and Kombucha for the same plus other things. A high percentage of your health depends on the health of your gut. I believe my daughter would be a lot worse if we didn't follow a decent diet since she was born. Not like the one we're now since I used a lot of grain and didn't always buy organic meats, but it was still better than the standard American diet. My diet evolved over many years, as new information came out. I imagine more changes will come up in the future.
Is that more than you wanted to know? :)

Well, now you know something else, hopefully.
You're welcome. Maybe someone else will chime in and help you more. There are many things to learn when it comes to Lyme and company. So now go make a green smoothie and sit back and read.

Hi there,
One my daughters first symptoms was intrusive ocd like thoughts.
With treatment they have gone from 20 plus times a day to once a day or even sometimes not at all.
Her pediatric doctor and childrens just wanted to diagnose her with ocd and call it a day. I just knew this was not right, something else was up. Finally 6 months later found a doc who tested her for lymes.
She also has bartonella who I know can cause ocd.
I know I don't post too much. But thank you to all the wonderful people on this site.
;)

CaliLyme,
Thank you for the repsonse. I recently got tested for bartonella and am waiting for the tests to come back. We will see how that goes. And yes there people are great. Its amazing the kind of help people give.
Thanks again.
Frank
