Just got back the actual lab results

Both came back present abnormal.

Do these two bands have any specific link together?

they are both Lyme specific. take a look at this website, it is very helpful in understanding your results....

23 is the outer surface protein to Bb, but 41 is any bacteria with a flagella. If you have 23 that means you have had/have Bb bacteria in your body because you are showing antibodies.

On my normal western blot (not IgeneX) only band 41 came back positive for me. My LLMD started treating me immediately.

He said "this band is specific for spirochetes. So you either have Lyme or Syphilis. My guess is Lyme". lol. He was right since I definitely don't have syphilis!

The eight known Borrelia genus specific bands are 18, 23, 30, 31, 34 ,39, 83 ,93.

28, 41, 45, 58, 66 are non-specific cross-reacting antibodies.

I have been told that 41 band usually is the first to appear with borrelia, but it is not specific. It is any bacteria with a flagella.

I had 5 bands positive last september and diagnosed with neuro lyme. Just needed info on those 2 bands. Thanks for the responses. Next step is back to Dr.

Do you think having Igenix testing is more accurate than my regular lab work?

where did you get your labwork done? igenex is supposed to be topnotch, but its expensive. I had my stuff done at stonybrook - they are supposed to be extremely reliable as well.

The 1st time it was at the hospital so I don't know where they send it out to. The last 2 times was LabCorp.
