Is anyone else dealing with constant headaches?  I've been on doxycycline, nystatin, apo hepat and samento for almost a month and have had headaches the entire time...I've tried all the things that usually work for me when I have a headache, but nothing is working..  any ideas?

Hi it was my son's primary symptom. Omnicef (cefdinir generic) got rid of them immediately. Try 600 mg dosage. Can also combine with ammox and others.

My daughter does, with rarely a day off from them.

Pearl,

I've just recently started getting headaches every day after having Lyme since June 2013 and treating since October 2013. I don't know if it's the Lyme or a co-infection coming through since switching abx.

I get frontal headaches like by my brow bone and around eyes and I also get base of skull headaches. Does anyone know what co-infection could cause this?

Tylenol doesn't get rid of these headaches for me so I just deal with them.

Well this is just what I logged on to discuss with you all today - headaches! Mine begin at the base of my skull and spread up and around to my forehead and behind eyes. I have one daily, and I've read on here many times that Lyme patients should not take ibuprofen. Why? I have been taking two every afternoon to quiet my headache, and it seems to work for the most part altho not completely. Can anyone shed light on 1) why we have headaches (I am not on abx yet); and 2) why it isn't good for us to take ibuprofen?

sorry you are having to dealing with this - bear in mind that headaches can be a side effect of the doxycycline.

Thanks everyone. My headaches are frontal/around my eyes as well. I looked on the meds and it seems headaches are a side effect of just about everything I'm on and the things my doctor is switching me to. I usually try naproxen sodium to get rid of headaches, but it hasn't worked with these...I haven't heard about avoiding ibuprofen...is there a reason to avoid it? My doctor is switching me to azithromycin, cefdinir and plaquenil and keeping me on the nystatin and non prescription meds. I see that some of the new things have headaches as side effects too...maybe the cefdinir will help? I'll post again after I've been on the new meds for awhile.

pearl of peace - how was your appointment this past week?? I see your doctor is switching your meds?

this is my trick to headaches (when they are intolerable) - I take one Tylenol 500mg and 1/2 tablet of Excedrin migraine. maybe it will work for you. I take 1/2 tablet because if I take a whole tablet I have a problem with rebound headaches because of the caffeine.

Both Lyme and Babesia are known for causing some whoppers of a headache! It can also be from neck tension, so try heat on your neck. Many times I've found ice to help though.

It can be from the vessels in the brain constricting or from them 'expanding' too much (wrong terms, sorry!!). If it's from them "expanding", things like ice packs on the neck and caffeine will help the headache. If it's from them constricting or neck tenstion, then the heat will help some.

Expanding meaning dilation :-) yes this is why I take excedrin with a little bit of caffeine. It helps constrict the vessels. I only get headaches when I herx and this has helped me identify them. Hope things get better pearl of peace

when I was put on azithromycin it really helped my headaches. i was having frontal headaches and sharp stabbing pain on the right side of my neck up into my skull. I still have them but not as much now. it feels like something you might get with meningitis. I also have a stiff neck too.

I had headaches my whole first week. It got better for me.. I get dizzy a lot though.
