feeling terrible on doxcycline

does doxcycline over all make you feel terrible? I have taken it for 4 days and I have felt so bad all i can do is just lie around in the house and bed.

I took azithromycin and had two spells of intestinal colitis and he stopped it. I tolerated it well up until then.

also I have been reading dr burrascano. is it better to take 2 or 3 antibiotics at one time, or one at one time?

When I first started taking doxy, it made me so tired I could barely move. I can tolerate it much better now, but this is several months later.

Feeling terrible with your treatment is a part of treating this disease. I remember saying that I felt like I had been hit by a truck when first on doxycycline.

My doctor says the worse you feel at first, the better you will feel in the long run. It means the treatment is effective.

As for Dr Burrascano's guidelines, you have to start the antibiotics one at a time. Usually you take one until you plateau and then another is added.

Looks like you are on your way to recovery!

My sister was horribly ill on doxy. She had to eat until she was literally stuffed and then she would take her medication. I did not have that problem.

I felt horrible when starting Doxycycline, too. IMO, you are herxing. Drink plenty of fluids and make sure you have something in your stomach when taking it.

I'd rather herx via bone crushing fatigue than the severe allergy-like symptoms that I'm supposedly having right now.

I herxed really bad the first week... and somewhere in the middle the second week.. It gets better.. Power through it unless it absolutely unbearable or youre having an allergic reaction.

I'm on doxy as well. Just went from 200mg a day to 400 today. I started off hurxing with a 100mg dose. Did that for a week. And started feeling a lot better so then did the 200 for a week and hurxed even more..then leveled out a little so I decided to take thr 400 mg today. Sure enough then came headache body aches...sinus aches = more Hurxing...Glad it's doing its job. It's more of a chore trying to detox and keeping my stomach from having discomfort than the issues with body pain. Don't know...but if it's not unbearable I'd keep it up.
How much are you on? Maybe you need to ramp up your dosage?

200 mg daily. I just feel bad, like flu like symptoms, no energy, achey, brain fog. it sounds like herx

every time I took doxy I got a weird painful chill through my body - I believe it was a "miniherx" - I was a mess the first 4 weeks, not from the doxy side effects, but from the lyme coming out of me. I am now taking 100mg three times a day, and i see my dr this week - I am curious as to whether she is going to increase the dose or not. I am now in my fifth week, and I feel almost 80% better. Every time I added a new antibiotic I herxed 5 days to 2 weeks. Every herx was different. I did get that overwhelmingly tired herx sometimes... So terribly hard to function like that! Try to detox as much as you can and hopefully that will reduce the severity and duration.

I started on 1 antibiotic initially. I think it's good to start with 1 and change up 1 at a time at first to minimize the herxing. I think with 3 antibiotics right away, you may get terrible herxing. Eventually I think you should be on 3 at once so the antibiotic is right there when Lyme wants to change to a different form. This way it can't evade being killed. I've been on 3-4 antibiotics close to a year and am still sick, that is why I'm thinking there must be a coinfection that needs to be addressed for me to get better.

I hope the herx lets up for you very soon!
