hi Verg,
other ways to find a dr.
is in the "new to lyme" thread of this forum (I'm pretty sure) and also
before I came here I was on mdjunction website lyme page and they helped me too with Dr. names.
and, I have some info on WI Dr.s that I can email you if your email is available. I'll check in a bit.
I've heard there are some lyme literate Dr.s in MN, so that of course, would be closer, but I don't know their names, sorry.
As far as the "post lyme syndrome", well, maybe you know this, but there are two schools of thought on this. One (from the Infectious Disease Society of America) that says what she said "the abx have done their job, and now your body is having an autoimmune reaction to the infection you had. So sorry, but this is your new normal. Have a nice day." ugh!!!
And, then the (correct) school of thought, promoted by Doctors who eat, sleep, and breathe lyme research and treat patients with success (these are Dr's who are ILADS members or think like them)…and they say…that there is evidence that the lyme bacteria for various reasons takes longer to treat, usually much longer than the 3-6 weeks you were on antibiotics. So, keep treating!
A very good book, if you have the time-it's well worth it, on the subject is "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. I'm learning so much from this book, as well as from others here and elsewhere.
Anyway, I'm glad that you're here looking for help to find a better doctor. I'm sure others will come along and give you advice too. I'll see if I can get you the WI dr. names I know of.
