Has anyone had lyme or co-infections give them constant pain behind the knees/down calves? I don't have joint pain at all, but my muscles and especially the tendons on the back of my knees really hurt. This extends down my calves, but it feels like the most intense pain comes from behind my knees.

I have a diagnosis of lyme and bartonella, but treating for both for 2 months has not improved this at all. I'm thinking I might ask my LLMD if he thinks I might possibly have babesia or something that could be causing this. What do you guys think?

Let's see, I'm taking Biaxin and Rifampin at the moment. I was on Rifampin and Minocycline last month. The pain was one of the first symptoms I got.

I was asking, cause some abx can cause tendon problems, but you haven't been taken those kind of abx.

Bartonella can cause some serious cramping, but I never had it behing my knees...

I don't want to discourage you, but 2 months of treatment is not much, it might take longer before you feel any changes.

Just wanted to add that I developed Baker's cysts behind both knees.

They disappeared along with other symptoms as my recovery progressed.

Are the back of your knees "lumpy"? ( for want of a better word)

I thought years ago prior to the lyme illness that I was having an allergic reaction to bactrim because when I went on it the back of my knees hurt really bad. It was the oddest feeling. I did get it occasionally through treatment.

Not sure if it is what you are talking about but it felt like it was the veins in the back of my knees that were aching. I also got that feeling in the veins in the middle of my arm where your elbows are. My naturopath put me on a sarsparilla tincture for a couple of weeks that is supposed to cleanse the blood and that really helped me.
