well, when I walked into the Drs office last week, I was already on doxy 400mg, teasel root (started at 5 drops twice a day and titrated it up to 30 drops twice a day), and a bunch of nutritionals and serrazymes, which breaks biofilms
At that point, I hadn't herxed in about
a week and a half (I used to herx after EVERY doxy dose, and EVERY teasel root dose) and was feeling great. BUT I still had a teeny bit of tingling on my left side, general body aches, and twitching. So I knew the lyme was still lingering -
She said that it looks like I do have Bartonella, bc if it was just the lyme alone, the doxy 400mg should have cleared it up (I had been on doxy for 8 weeks, but started at 200mg for two weeks then increased to 300mg for three weeks and then 400mg for 4 weeks)
My bartonella test came back negative, but she said there are only 2 or 3 strains on the test, and 30 strains out there.
Since I was feeling so well, it was time to start add on antibiotic therapy - so I am now on Zithromax as well - 250mg twice a day. She also added AL complex, only 10 drops a day (but starting at 2 drops and titrating it up)
I had actually started grapefruit seed extract 2 weeks ago, but she took that away bc I was getting a new peripheral neuropathy symptom. Very weird. Wasn't entirely sure if it was due to the GSE, but since I stopped it, the symptom did go away.....
anyway, I like her approach. She didn't bombard me with so many things at once, bc I herxed on day 3 of only doxycycline 200mg when I originally started treatment. So she knew that she had to take it easy on me, and make sure my body was strong enough to handle all of the meds, and took it one step at a time.
After starting the Zithromax, I feel worse than I did last week, but I believe that is a good thing, Bc I am herxing again. I would say this is the last part of the battle to get these last symptoms out of me. Although the body aches are more painful, and the twitches are happening more often, I know its bc the lyme/bartonella bacteria is being kicked out, so to speak. I am still 80% better than I was, bc I was so sick before I started treatment to the point that I felt like I needed to be admitted to the hospital. My legs were getting numb from the inside out, I lost 6 lbs in a week bc I was so nauseous, I had severe myalgia and severe neuralgia, amongst other things. So the way I feel now is So much better - and the best sign of all is that I have my sex drive back (my husband is very happy about
this one)
