Everyone with Bartonella has a rash??

Found this while researching tonight... It that true? Those of you have Bart?
I'm curious bc I have every symptom of Bartonella, but the rash I've not had.

In my experience the famous Bart streaks only come out when treating for Bart. That's not true for everyone but was for me. Rifampin brought them out and herbs did too.

Oh, this is good to know. I remember hearing that people saw the streaks during treatment, but I had understood that they were seen before treatment as a rule. My doc says my son doesn't have Bart but I really think he does.

ToddPaul, without the streaks but having the symptoms your doctor dx'd Bart?

Not the case for me. My sister had a bart rash before she started treatment. I certainly have it, tested pcr positive, but no rashes, not before nor during treatment.

Ksgirl- I think you're right that most do see the streaks before starting treatment. I should've phrased that differently. It's also possible I had them before but just never caught them because they only appeared on my back but many Bart symptoms seemed to only come out while treating.

My LLMD did suspect it when he saw red dots on me that look like pinpoint hemorrhages. I'm not convinced those are from Bart but I also have urinary symptoms that could be Bart and all kinds of rashes and itchy bumps.

Todd, what urinary symptoms do you have? And do you have a rash that is a raised bump that itches at times, sometimes looks like it is the whitehead part of a pimple but you can't pop it?

My Dr. suspects I have bart bc of my symptoms - rib pain, I had cystitis and stomach issues, which have subsided, and my feet hurt and are tingly in the morning. Not many symptoms, but by the fact that I have been on doxy for 2 months and it's not cutting it, she thinks I must have a coinfection, and Bart is the only one that comes close. Never had a rash, but I am starting AL complex today, so we will find out what happens!!! I tested negative for coinfections, but those are not reliable either.

Not sure if that was what you even meant by saying you were starting it, after you stayed doxy isn't cutting it and doc thinks you have a co. I am just letting you know in case you don't already, but you probably do. :) AL can hit babesia though. I hope you are doing well, and the kiddos too! :)

I just tested positive for Bart. I've been treated for Lyme for 1.5 years. I had a red, oval rash when first found the tick. No other rashes that I can think of. I do have pinpoint hemorrhages as Paultodd mentioned and had no idea why I had it. A large area below where I found the tick, so maybe it is associated with Bart. I haven't started treatment yet.

maine - I know, my dr added Zithromax to address the bartonella. not sure if that will work either. still not sure if I even have bart!!

AL works against Lyme and coinfections, I know it doesn't address bart directly, but it can help fight it off. I don't believe there is any black and white answers here, so I am just following my Drs plan and hopefully the last bit that I am feeling will get knocked out soon enough!

Ksgirl- I have burning when I urinate every day for the past maybe 17 years. I've been to about 6 urologists but none could help me. Luckily it's pretty mild and drinking water helps a lot. Not 100% sure it's Lyme-related but my first tick bite was about 3-4 years before that so it's possible. How about you? Do you have urinary issues?

The bumps I get always itch when they appear but do not resemble a whitehead. They are flesh-colored and when I scratch them a rash will appear for a short time before disappearing.

Almost positive yes. I've had hives and this is nothing like that. It's one bump not a bunch and not a welt. Also, when I went on herbs to treat they came out like gangbusters for months until eventually dying down so I must have been herxing.

Todd, its my son, and he doesn't have any symptoms that I know of, but sometimes hearing about other people's symptoms point out things that I haven't realized before.

Never had a rash but had the symptoms. We treated for it last summer and going to start Houttuynia soon to make sure it is all out.

You can present with a vascular lacey patterned rash known as livedo. It is a sign of bartonella. The rash isn't always purple striae sometime they look like small scratches too. Hope that helps.

Our daughter has never had a classic bartonella rash, even though she tested positive for it and all of her symptoms pointed to that infection. Treatment has brought down both symptoms and titers. But she has never had the rash.

I see what I think is livedo and scratches mostly after he takes epsom salt baths. Would this make sense--is it sort of a herxing reaction?

Yes, the heat from the bath can bring out the rashes.

I'm convinced I have Bartonella (lots of symptoms) but do not & never have had the "classic" streak rash.

I think there are so many different strains of Bart. that not all of them may cause the rashes.

I've been clinically diagnosed with Bart (getting test results Thursday,Yeah!!!) I have the streaks and have had a rash several times. At the time I thought it was a heat rash. I've also had what looks like hives but I would only get one at a time (I had pictures). One hive would come, go away and three-four days later I'd get another one. That lasted about two months. Haven't had any since. My LLMD says it was Bart. I'm not on antibiotics yet, only pro-biotics, B12 & folinic acid. LLMD didn't want to treat until we knew what all I have.

There are many infections diseases doctors who still believe that you can't have Lyme disease unless you have had the classic bullseye rash, since then we have learnt that is utter nonsense as only one in six ever remember having had that rash. I believe the medical community is making exactly the same mistake by imposing such narrow and inacurate parameters on a Bartonella diagnosis.

I have been told that these lines could be bartonella, but they are not the usual "stretch mark" type ... Are these considered "classic" bartonella or could they be something else ?

I had a bartonella test and came out positive.. I used to get the red streaks and hives. Once when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with me, went to this doctor and was telling them about the red streaks and hives and they started to come out and that darn crazy doctor accused me of scratching myself well we argued about it then I gave up.. Never went back to that doctor again.... I've been doing the houttinya tea and tincture.. I think I've just about got that and babesia whipped now I need something for
mycoplasma do you guys know of anything...
