has anyone on here had improvement in their health after the removal of mercury amalgams and a detox? I just had one removed. now there is no more mercury in my mouth. but my dentist says I need to have surgery for a cavitation. anyone know about this?

In Dr.J's book if you have mercury fillings that is why you have numbness and tingling in your extremeties
I'm wondering if that's why I still have it in hands and feet. I have 9 waiting on mercury test, will be getting them all out soon. Dentist is biological and holistic said to detox at least 2 wks before they start. I'm sure I will be on some detox for sometime after getting them all removed. (plus 1-2 root canals) Am I nervous yes I've always hated dentist.....They said 3 at a time.......ouch......

I'll be curious to see how you all feel after the removal. I have 3 different metals in my mouth. Long story short...I was kicked in the mouth by a horse (yes, he won that round) therefore I have had extensive dental work (happened when I was 9, I'm now 50). I currently have 11 mercury fillings, one silver crown, a 7 tooth platinum bridge on upper front, along with a huge amalgam tattoo on my upper outer gum area. I've had way to many root canals, gum surgeries, caps, crowns, you name it I've probably had it done.

I'm to call the biological and holistic dentist Monday for a consult that my LLMD has recommended.

Bumping this old thread on mercury amalgams and detox. My LLMD recommended I get my fillings removed a while back, but I hadn't really made it a priority until I stumbled upon a podcast on Revolution Health Radio with Chris Kresser (highly recommend this podcast BTW). They interviewed a guy--Dr. Chris Shade--that is an expert on mercury toxicity and detox.

I came to learn that my three most stubborn symptoms--leaky gut/loose stools, weakness/fatigue, and headaches are all common symptoms of mercury toxicity. I also have a bunch of pituitary problems which are also common.

So it occurred to me that I should get these removed, and I have an appointment scheduled for December 9th. However it is with my regular dentist not a holistic dentist, and I doubt my dentist really knows anything about the need to detox the mercury that could get stirred up during the removal of the fillings.

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this they could share? I read that your supposed to take a ton of chlorella around the time of the appointment, but a couple of places warned against it too, so I'm a little confused.

And also wondering if anyone saw their symptoms improve after removing the fillings? Thanks in advance!

The question I have is having any of the veterans who have got Lyme it remission done it even though they had metal fillings? i have many and as things need to replace, but cost is a huge issue. So far this year my dental bills were over $3500 just with what's needed to keep everything from being delayed so long that it ends up with more.

So has anyone NOT removed the fillings and still gone into remission?

Oh, me too! I've got a mouthful.

One thing I've done in the past to save some money is take some responsibility for my own clean-up cleanliness and go to a standard dentist. Research and do your own detox protocol. You don't need a specialist to tell you this stuff. Then, get Nitros while getting the teeth done for a "clean air supply". You can even have them keep turning the nitros down so that you're just breathing pure O2. Then, rinse like crazy whenever you're given the chance. It's not ideal, but an option if finances are a limiting factor.

It's funny how much being sick with all this crap costs.

Thankfully, I've never had many cavities, just a couple small ones. Still though, be glad to not have the fillings.

Thanks all for the responses. Still hoping to hear from an "amalgam vet". I've read that mercury detox can be brutal but can't find good tips from my research. Taking tons of chlorella seems like the best thing to do, but would love to get any advice I can. And would really prefer not to shell out the many hundreds extra for the biological dentist, although i'm starting to think that might be the safest route.

I have 3 amalgam fillings left in my mouth. Any others were removed by my regular dentist when they were failing (I'm 58 and any fillings I have were done when I was a kid).

The amalgam fillings were replaced with resin composite fillings (and the only precaution my dentist took was a dental dam - I didn't know any better back then).

I've been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid since my dx (for general health but I was happy to discover it chelates mercury). I've also been taking chlorella.

I consider myself thisclose to remission (I have super-mild, occasional peripheral nervous system symptoms and am no longer herxing with dose increases).

Am I a quasi "amalgam vet"? ;)

PeteZa, LOL! Before I read your last comment I was thinking about looking in the mirror.

cd, thanks for the info. I am 52 and after freshman year in college ended up with 11 cavities. Of course, the Lyme has not been kind to my teeth and the fillings are being replaced one (or two at a time) but I'm sure that there are still some left. I cannot even imagine the cost to remove them. Given how difficult dental procedures are anyway, i don't willingly go into the chair.

I'm just starting to figure things out. Unfortunately, the LLMD I saw (once) is sick herself and my Rheumatologist just stopped practicing with no warning. The practice he was with is now dumping Fibromyalgia patients. Never mind even mentioning Lyme (for which I have a CDC positive). They are only interested in patients that generate lots of profit from expensive tests.
