I had nerve issues too actually! The antibiotics I took got rid of all the issues I had!
You are going to herx either way, and cell wall drugs like rocephin used for IV treatments don't even treat intracellular infections (that is lyme bacteria inside of your cells) so to me there is really no point in using that form of treatment. Unless you are seriously beyond ill. Then maybe to start it would work.
I believe a combination of minocycline + tinidazole + plaquenil will get to virtually every tissue of your body, nerves, brain, prostate, AND inside of your cells. I now think the word should just get out there and this should be a kind of standard of treatment to completely treat Lyme disease. This is all you need, and this combo will work better than IV antibiotics, be less harsh on the kidneys and liver, and clear out your infection.
Tinidazole takes out biofilms, it's the #1 antibiotic for Lyme disease. It kills spirochetes, kills cysts, kills them intracellularly, and gets to all your tissues. What is more to ask. So you add in minocycline which has the best tissue penetration of all of either tetracycline drugs or macrolides. This gets into all your nerve cells. So now you got the number 1 support antibiotic. Now you add in plaquenil and poof, the lyme is gone.
I just had a follow up appointment with my lyme literate doctor and he said the following:
1. Minocycline is better than doxy because it has far more superior tissue penetration, it works exactly like doxy in that it binds to bacterial ribosomes preventing them from making proteins. Minocycline is the best drug to treat inside of nerves
2. Tinidazole is hands down absolutely far more superior to metronidazole. It takes out virtually all of biofilms.
3. I asked him if he had Lyme disease how would he treat it? He said he would treat it just the way I am treating it.
Plaquenil just becomes an added measure. But this ALSO penetrates all tissues and crosses into the brain and makes the mino work much better! It also creates an uncomfortable environment inside of cells for lyme because of the raise in pH.
Also he said there is no worry at all for tinidazole damaging chromosomes because this was tested in mice at very high concentrations for long periods of time. He said it's not a concern.
His only concern was to make sure my kidneys, liver, and blood count are good.
Anyways I think this should just be a standard for lyme treatment personally. Lots of doctors are now saying doxycycline + flagyl or tinidazole right off the bat for initial infections.
