Would you consider looking for hostels in the areas you would travel?
I stayed at one in Mass and it was cheap, clean, safe and actually kinda challenging with good results. Each one is unique to themself, and there are often different styles of sleeping arrangements, and some even have private style rooms with baths. This could be worth looking into. Some may even have discounted/unique options available for individuals traveling to get to help with medical needs.
Or, how about the Y? I know that might be way off, but just a thought.
Or, plotting your travel course, getting on whatever LD sites you belong, start talking to other LD people that might in the area(s) you will be heading and asking them for any info/assistance. They might know of a local support group that has things set up just for this purpose.
I have one person I met through FB that has opened her home to us if I need to travel near her to see a Dr. I know this can happen, but we must be open to asking/seeking. It's so hard to do, but stranger things have happened that have led to positive ends.
Good luck and I pray things open up and go smoothly for you during this time.
