Exactly.

I actually gave up trying to find treatment in Ontario shortly after I figured out (on my own) what our daughter's problem was.

There was no use complaining about our lack of help. It was just a waste of time, no one would listen (especially doctors) and frankly, it just made me feel bad.

I found my time to be better spent looking for healing.

Our daughter underwent treatment in the US for 2 years, but honestly we are doing better with combination herbal protocols, organic diet and decreased EMFs than we ever did with abx, so now we are pretty much all on our own - AND DOING GREAT!

If it hadn't been for the lack of assistance from mainstream medicine in Ontario, I would never have discovered how self sufficient I actually am!

I just don't understand that. What would happen if someone enforcing that got Lyme disease? They would find out what is was like for the citizens of Canada trying to get help.

Or then again they might just figure they have MS, CFS, Parkinsons.... and start treating themselves for an autoimmune disease which doesn't usually have a great outcome.

Then they would jump through hoops to find more help. :) Just like Lymies do.

Great post dmw52, I know me and you have talked about this a lot before.

rowingmom: I agree with the self sufficient part. I am younger (25) and have always been self sufficient and mature for my age. But never to the level I have had to be when it has come to my health. I had to demand things, learn to make calls and work the system and just find out healing on my own. I haven't had any improvement yet but I know I am armed with the knowledge and will to figure it out now. It forced me out of a comfort zone.

One of the worst things is we pay an arm and a leg in taxes for healthcare and then we still have to pay for treatment. And the thing I'll never understand is why Canada can't have its own strategy against Lyme, we don't have to follow the US. Anyways, we'll all get better and then work on finally getting proper treatment for Lymies in Canada.

I am not sure that I could handle long term antibiotics anyway. However, my concern is for people who can't afford to seek alternative health care and for people who have blind faith in doctors. There are going to be many children with Lyme whose parents can't or won't search for answers.

Summersun, I forwarded the link to my family so they can better understand why I am not getting help from the medical community.

LC, and the worst part is that after paying for all the supplements and herbs, we can't even claim them on our income tax.
