Hi, I have been very ill since around May 8. I have had 2 tick bites in the last 2 months, both leaving dark red raised marks, not bullseye. I feel chilled all the time, and have chills and fever several times a day and night sweats. At first I thought I must have the flu, since I had alot of congestion due to seasonal allergies and asthma, but I don't think this is flu and no one around me has gotten sick like this. Does it seem like this could be Lyme or a coinfection? My husband got Lyme (still deals with it) about 8 years ago. He had very high fevers, then became more arthritic. I don't have any arthritic symptoms. I am weak and super tired. thanks,

My tick bite was last July. Like you described it left a dark red raised mark, no bullseye, but it itched. I had flulike symptoms, was suffering from allergies, etc...then the arthritic symptoms started almost two months later (bite was early July, arthritic symptoms in mid to late August). I was tested in December (took that long to find a LLMD) it came back positive in January.
I would get tested if I were you. If it's negative you've spent $200 for peace of mind...if it's positive you can start treatment and may beat it before the really bad symptoms take hold.

The sooner you find out if you have it, the better chance you have of getting rid of it quicker. You've seen your husband deal with it in a chronic stage, so you're familiar with what can happen if you go untreated. Does your husband see a LLMD?
