Lyme disease

Hi. My name is Mats, and i live with my fiancee and to children, my little guy age 2, and my little princess age 1. Two years ago i got realy sick, i went to many doctors, used allot of money, but they didnt find the reason fore my sickness. But then i finally found one doctor ho thought of taking a blood test for lyme disease, and it was possitive. I was happy and sad at the same time, happy that i finally got an answer, and people finally belived me, but unhappy that it was lyme. Because of my disease i couldent work, and the medical bills and other bills has become too much. Now me and my family is deep in debt, and i see this as our last chance. I have tryed every other option i can think about. Im still trying to get back to work, but at this rate with our bills, it wont make that much of a difference. All they said about my blood results was that it was positive. And they startes me on one month of antibiotics. Got a little better for a while, before it got worse again. Then another month, again a little better, before worse. Then they wouldent give me anymore, because they said that the antibiotics could be dangereous in them self if given too much, so i had to wait a while. After waiting 5-6 months they put me in the hospital, and gave me antibiotics straight in the blood for 2 weeks, then 2 months of pills. Thats when i got alot better, and thats were i am right now, not healed yet, but dont think il ever be compleatly healed. Just goung day to day! :)

It sounds like you haven't seen a Lyme Literate doctor yet - they would treat much longer than 2 months. That's not usually long enough for anyone that has symptoms. For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you can start a new thread titled something like:"Looking for LLMD/LLND​ in the _______ area." so that it will get more views. Although, you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) trained doctor, as ID Docs (Infectious Disease Doctors) believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. Also, if you haven't yet, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists (as Lyme rarely occurs by itself), helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, and a list of questions that you can ask any doctor that you are seeking treatment from!

There is healing from these infections once you find the right treatment for you!!

Many, many people have been sick for years with lyme disease and are well now with treatment. But, it takes time.

Please follow Traveler's advice and find a LLMD so you can get proper treatment.

I see you write at the bottom of youre post, what kind of sikcnesses you have had. Whats EBV? And are u cured of lyme?

You're not stupid, Alexander! Just likely overwhelmed! Is there anything that I can help you with? I no longer have any symptoms of any of the tick-borne infections that I had for over 40 years. My Lyme infection is in remission and the others are cured as far as I know. I've been through enough stress to crash my adrenals, so I know that if I weren't truly in remission from Lyme, it would have reared it's ugly little head again.

EBV refers to Epstein-Barr Virus, the virus that causes Mononucleosis (Mono). During times of high stress like being sick, it can reactivate and cause a lot more issues for many of us. It is now under control as well for me.

And by the way, dont think i have mentioned it, but i live in Norway. And here the doctors dont belive in cronic Lyme disease, they say, if you get bit, and become ill, you will get a 2 week antibiotic cure, and you will be compleatly healthy, if you get bit and dont get sick, then you beat the disease yourself. They teach this at medical school. Im lucky i found an open minded doctor, ho is willing to give extra treatment. The doctors here also say that more then 1 month antibiotic treatment is very dangerous for the body. But there are some doctors ho is learning from countrys like USA and Germany. But still, 95% belive that cronic lyme disease dosent exist.

So sorry you are in this battle. Extremely frustrating when the doctors are so uninformed. They just make our experience worse. As others have stated hopefully yiu can find an llmd near you. I know of person on another forum I belive is in Norway. I think she ended up seeing dr kenny DeMeleir, I think he is in Brussels but memory might be failing me. I know when you dont feel well any llmd farther than 15 miles from home can seem overwhelming especially with the added costs. I hope y8u can get some good ideas here, at minimum some encouragement to keep fighting.
