No success with abx? Did herbs work?

Hello,   I was wondering how many people had zero success with antibiotics but then found at least some sort of success with herbs?

Traveler, you are my guru, I'm going the natural route too.

Akkami, I am nearly one month into the Cowden protocol, it's a bit too soon to tell but some of my more minor symptoms have gone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes I do. I don't know how you did it. It's only been a year for me and I am spent. I'm going give my current abx a month. I just started it 2 days ago. If no improvement I guess I'll go straight herbs.. I don't know. Been on Doxy for almost 4 months. Then ceftin was added. That went poorly and now I'm on someting else instead plus an anti-fungal. It's too much I think.

Mt daughter did ABX for 14 months and enjoyed much improvement. She went on to relapse within a few months later. Then we used a completely "alternative" approach with Dr. J. that included herbs. She is well today.

I'm not a gambler but a person on ABX would do well to consider something that Kenny Rogers said in his song "The Gambler":

"You've got to know when to hold em
Know when to fold em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run...."

We ran and never looked back!

I love your quoting the Gambler song!

That's exactly how I'm feeling with my son and his situation. He's four years old and has done about four months of antibiotics. The antibiotics have brought him very far! He's almost symptom free; I usually say about 90-95% symptom free. That's my way of saying, very close to symptom free, but not yet, still has some symptoms sometimes (3-5 a week), but most days he feels pretty good (according to what he tells me and how he looks and acts).

He just finished one month on fluconazole (with no antibiotics. I didn't want to have him on both for a couple of reasons).

Now, I'm ready to make the switch to herbs for him. I'm so grateful to those who have shared their experiences with herbal treatments, b/c it's helped me in my researching and decision to try this for him.

I want to try it now, b/c for one: he probably still has yeast, and I don't want to make it worse with more abx. (although I know probiotics and good nutrition, etc. are still necessary from what I hear, b/c yeast can still be a problem on some herbs.)
for another thing: I think he wasn't tolerating the abx well the last month (side effects, not just yeast)
and also, the fact he's doing so well, makes me think that his immune system can help fight this thing even better now, with the help of an herbal treatment.

I'm talking with the dr. about it this week. Unfortunately we're going out of town for two weeks and he won't start until we get back. I do worry about him being untreated completely for two-three weeks, but I'm praying he'll be able to handle it without a set-back.

Anyway, this got long, but I wanted to say that I like the lyric you chose: "know when to walk away, and know when to run."

I appreciate what the abx have done for my son, but I feel a peace about walking away from them now and switching to herbal.

Yes, I'm another success story who became well using alternative medicine (like Heather's Dad, I used Dr. Jernigan's protocol at home from his book, I didn't go to his clinic).

Don, I also love the song you picked out, so appropriate!
