Hi everyone,
My doctor had been on vacation but emailed me last week to tell me I was "positive," that IgG showed up. So without seeing the results, I've been researching what this means, opposed to IgM over the last week.
For some reason the lab never sent him my results, so he had to call to get them faxed over today. He just sent them to me and it shows:
B. Burgdorferi IgG WB, ARUP: Negative f, Bands present: NONE (insufficient number of bands for positive result)
B. Burgdorfeeri IgM WB, ARUP: Positive @f, Bands present: 41, 23kDa
I'm so confused as to what a positive IgM technically means. I know it technically doesn't matter because I have all the symptoms for a likely clinical diagnosis, but I'm driving myself crazy looking for a definitive answer. My first appointment with an LLND isn't until mid-August.
I was diagnosed with Lyme when I was 10 (I'm 26 now) when I had the bulls eye rash. I did two weeks of antibiotics and knew nothing about Lyme. Since then, I've had a plethora of symptoms and doctors visits. I was so sure I have Lyme, and now I have a positive IgM and I'm feeling like that's not enough for me because I know the tests are iffy (I am seriously driving myself crazy!). What does a positive IgM test technically mean? Could it mean I have indeed had it for 16 years and it's been "reactivated?" If so, what does that mean? That it was possibly in remission and a stressor or something caused a flare up?
Thank you to all who take the time to read this. I have awesome Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and am driving myself (and family) crazy searching for answers.
Love to all!
