Hi all,

I'm sure many know about Robin Williams... I watched most of his shows and films... I remember when he performed Comic Relief with Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal for homeless people..

He was a genius, a beautiful human being, etc., etc.

I'm so very, very sad that he is gone.. He was only 63 and battled depression as well as drugs.

Rest in Peace Robin Williams. You will always be in my heart.

You know Denise we so need laughter especially when we are ill. His comic genius was so infectious, his stand up routines still crack me up. His work with the USO and our troops just showed what kind of person he was. As others have said his brain worked so fast it was at times just stunning. I am so sad for all of us but most especially his family. Addiction and depression often go hand in hand and sometimes it is so hard to see that things can get better. Such a big loss for all of us.

Yes I actually cried yesterday about it. I don't see his suicide as wrong though just sad... It is sad to hear his life ending that way. It makes me think of suicide myself, esspecially after all this Lyme and the tremendous toll and damage it has done on my body. I'm almost better and can function and work full time but I can't get much better than 95%. Still the whole situation around it. And incredible irreversible damage to my body. I just have aged 5 years in 8 months. I was about to be in the prime of my life perhaps about to start dating and worked hard to get there and I felt it was all taken away . Anyways sad about Robbin Williams and he was really quite the acting character and made me laugh so many times with his movies. And he was so enthusiastic with his voice! He will be missed...

The last I heard, it was still an "alleged" suicide.

Be careful with that kind of thought process, Lymepickle, I was reading on the news how when a star like R. Williams commits suicide, it can spark a rash of "copycat" suicides or suicide attempts.

Now that's not a good reason to have that thought process, is it?

20/20 did a show about him tonight. It was nice to see all that he did during his life. He made so many people laugh. Our news just showed him with Koko the gorilla. He was really enjoying the experience. That might have been good therapy for him. You can find it on youtube. It was nice to see him just enjoy the experience.

Last week it seemed there were suicides in the news here several days. I hope that trend slows down.

I'm learning that he really suffered from serious depression for a long time which is an illness all by itself.

I guess what's important to remember is that Robin Williams gave us a gift... A gift of making us laugh and for that I am grateful. I have so many memories of him and those memories will live on in my heart. As flowergal said, he was such a good person for entertaining our troops (I read that of all the performances he did, he enjoyed that the best). He had a heart of gold and we are lucky that he shared his talent with us.

LymePickle, hang in there okay? I honestly believe you will get your life back 100%! I have not read all of your posts to be honest (I only read a couple) but I reversed damage that was done to my body by detoxing and getting out those extra toxins that like to hang around in the joints and bones and you can do this too!

It just reminds us that we are all human, it's hard to suffer and life isn't easy. We aren't alone in struggling. Science has a long way to go understanding the body and the brain. You shouldn't get dismissed when your body doesn't feel right. Scientists need to keep looking for better answers to some of these health problems, because loading up on pharmaceuticals just isn't the answer.

His wife and children asked that we think only of the laughter and positive things of his life, not his death.

People and the news media tend to focus on a movie star's death, bc it's sensationalistic. Don't even go there.

I have learned to avoid things like, well, holocaust movies, or visiting places like Gettysburg, the latter of which I really didn't like.

Later, you can watch some of the great movies he was in.

Thanks deejavu! I really needed that it makes me feel better and is encouragement to keep fighting! I needed that I know I came a long way in my recovery... But to feel like I plataeud... Ever since around mid-April I haven't had too much gain... I did have some symptom free moments at times back in late June and so I stopped my bartonella treatment (I swear I thought it was done).  I think my bartonella relapsed and came back and now lots of burning in my limbs lately.  And to be honest I still don't believe my Lyme is completely treated either. 

Yes I can see how a major celebrity can have a 'ripple effect' going across the nation, esspecially someone who was so enthusiastic and full of life in all his roles he played.  He will be missed... I don't forget Mrs. Doubtfire or him as genie in Aladdin. ..

I think he was battling major depression... I think depression meds are not the way to deal with depression and studies are coming out now more than ever it can make people even more suicidal and depressed.  If it is blocking the serotonin reuptake, there is excessive serotonin at the synapse, then the receiving synapse makes less serotonin receptors to receive the signal, and the neuron also makes less serotonin.  Then when the medication is withdrawn you have a more severe form of depression where there is less serotonin and less serotonin receptors.   This can cause powerful depressions.  I was on anti-depressants early in my lyme treatment, but no... No more anti-depressants, I know it makes it worse and I know that from experience and the science backs it.

His wife announced today that he was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and was struggling with early stage sx and was not ready to go public with it. She probably decided to share it with the world, even though he probably wanted to keep it private, because everyone was speculating that he was struggling with his alcohol addiction again, which was why he ended his life. And I am so sorry that she had to do that.

It is what it is… and who am I to speculate, but I read in a very well-done article that he'd had an episode a few years back with being quite ill, not being able to get a diagnosis and had trouble with his heart. Of course, knowing what I now know about some people's experiences with lyme, I did wonder about lyme, especially with the depression and now hearing that he had Parkinson's…

"We never had, in the last 5 years, a single Alzheimer Disease, Lou Gehrig's Disease / ALS, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis / MS patient who did not test positive for Borrelia Burgdorferi (Lyme Disease bacteria), not a single one!" - Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD (speaking of research done using molecular methods to find DNA of the Spirochete that causes lyme disease).

My father used to say that the class clown is sometimes the saddest and they attempt to cover up inner pain.

Robin had problems in the past with drugs but he was clean and sober when he died.

Robin's wife stated “Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson’s Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly,”

Parkinson’s affects nearly 10 million people, according to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. The National Institutes of Health cites that “for people with depression and Parkinson’s disease, each illness can make symptoms of the other worse.” Research linking the two has focused on depression following a diagnosis, but it can be assumed that the actor’s depression predated his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Depression is a horrible thing and it can't always be helped with medication.
I pray he's at peace now.

I don't think Lyme is responsible for for all illness and disease. It could be in some cases but certainly not all.
I thought that maybe my mothers Alzheimers was due to Lyme but a biopsy of her brain and other tissue after her death was negative for Lyme.

I immediately thought of lyme also. In Under Our Skin, it's pretty clear.

I read somewhere Michale J Fox and I think 4 crew members were on location filming years ago. All got tick bites and lyme - all had Parkinson's by 30... not sure of the truth there... but very suspect.

I posted this before. My husband's uncle is 70 and tremors like mad. Shakes like Parkinson's, but tested positive for lyme. Mold illness is also linked to severe depression. Mold and lyme is quite nasty...

Isn't lyme also liked to suicide and uncontrollable suicidal thoughts?

He was probably really suffering without clear answers.

My MIL has Parkinson's and when I mentioned to her husband that it might be a good idea to have her tested for Lyme, he said that she had it when she was younger and got over it, so she didn't need to be tested. I tried to explain it to him, but he didn't want to hear it. I don't get a chance to talk to her very often, but she probably wouldn't trust what I had to say either, so I just have to let it go. So sad.

People seem to not really want to hear it...I don't know why not. They treat me like I'm nuts... or just say ok to pacify me and make me go away. ... and we wonder why the govt. and medical field is not all over it...

Agree Lovemychildren Mom—and others who have mentioned trying to communicate the possibility of a lyme infection to others. Especially when there is an effective treatment possibility for lyme & co-infections, not just toxic medication to delay onset symptoms of horrendous diseases like ALS and Parkinson's, MS, etc…

I'd much rather be in treatment for lyme, as difficult as it is. I'm going to post this on the McDonald thread, too, but it was his lectures I saw on YouTube that was the tipping point for me to get serious in getting a lyme diagnosis for me. I was going to take any opportunity quite seriously--to treat lyme instead of suffering ALS, Parkinson's or MS down the road.
