Anemia or elevated monocyte % anyone?

Still trying to get to the bottom of my husband's illness since no one else is.  His bloodwork still intrigues me yet the medical practitioners he has seen seem to shrug it off.

Wondering if anyone else that has their labwork had elevated monocyte % and/or anemia?

Percentages of certain WBC's are meaningless without knowing the absolute counts. So make sure they draw an absolute count of the different WBC's next time if they don't do that regularly.

Anemia can be caused by Babesia or Ehrlichia/Anaplasma.

Thanks Razzle.  So if the absolutely number is normal, does it negate the abnormal percentage?

Springsjean - can you tell me if you got to the bottom of your husband's illness?

I've been diagnosed with Lyme but I'm having some irregularities show up in my blood work, ANA positive, elevated monocytes, my sodium has been out of wack, as well as my thyroid... I know Lyme cause do many of these strange things but the ANA and the monocytes are really scaring me. I am aware of the possibility of autoimmune disease, but also VERY concerned about cancer. I have quite a few lymph nodes that swell up in my neck and now with the monocytes being 15....? :/

My daughter has been diagnosed with Lyme and Babesia and is also severely anemic. I have read that the co-infection Babesia can cause this.

Your husband is lucky to have someone fighting to find answers for him. We are trying to do the same for our daughter.
