Hi everyone, I am new here and want to introduce myself, I am a 25 year old from Atlanta Georgia. I was bitten by a small tick back in early march of 2014 which looked like a deer tick.
My symptoms started two months after I was bitten. My first symptom was extreme anxiety along with a form of depersonalization, although I am not sure if it was depersonalization exactly, all I know is my body felt weird to move and I felt like I was either leaving the earth, or dying.
These two symptoms stayed for at least three months, in May I also had about a week of tension headaches from stress trying to figure out what was going on. I started feeling psychotic and didn't feel real or like I was crazy, not too intense but bad enough to really alarm me to wonder if something was not right with my body.
I went to at least 3 doctors before I was diagnosed with mono by blood test on a monospot, still thought something was up since I had no regular mono symptoms. Shortly after fatigue set in and I was still having anxiety, I started a bit of twitching as well which is still with me.
about a month and a half after my mono diagnosis, I went to my PCP and tested negative/equivocal on the elisa test at 0.91, then a month later I went to an infectious disease doctor near Atlanta who I heard by some lyme patients that she seems to know lyme pretty good, she tested me on the elisa which again came out at 0.91, and tested me for 4 other co infections, which all came back negative, although I did get an 0.40 on the Rocky Mountain spotted fever test, but she did not seem concerned.
After all these appointments I noticed august was getting better for me, I was able to drink on weekends and drink a good amount of beers with my friends, I was able to be more active and had decent energy and I was even able to do yard work in very hot weather for about two hours, a nice improvement over May, June, and July.
Even though I have improved a bit from the previous months I am still on the fence about lyme, even if I do have it I don't have the money it takes to see a real llmd or the money it takes to treat it so I have no choice but to deteriorate if I do have it, sorry for sounding so depressing but from what I read in certain lyme forums it does not look good, I came across this forums because it seems the most positive and uplifting out of them all.
The only thing I have access too is doxycycline 100 mg pills, I have the green capsules, and the orange capsules that say nudoxy on them. I can probably also get Zithromax but that's about it, other than that I know of no real llmds in georgia and I can't go out of state right now nor do I have the money it takes to see and llmd and get treatment like many people with lyme do.
In closing, even though I have someone improved in this month and my anxiety has been a bit more down I still don't feel all that great, just barely decent, and if I have lyme I do not want to die from it or have life long complications since I am not treating, cause at this point I really don't know what is going to happen and I am scared, once again sorry for sounding depressing I just am looking for advice, any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
