I have no dignity left and I'm rapidly losing the will to live, it is one goddarn symptom after the other, flooding me faster than I can come to terms with each one of them - about a month ago I noticed blood on my stools and on the paper, I thought it would be temporary but it has remained consistent, if not worse, the only medication I am on is the Cowden SP and I had a colonoscopy in March that gave me the all clear. So what is causing this? I am 99% certain I have bart - could it be that?

Sorry for being graphic, but what color is the blood? If it's bright red, it's likely from the rectum itself - but if it's dark, or tarry looking, then you need to get in to see a doctor right away. The darker it is, the higher up the digestive track it's coming from.

Bleeding from any point in the digestive track isn't good - but if it's not surface bleeding (bright red), then it can be dangerous. You've had this for a month, please don't wait. Call and schedule an appt with your doc right away. And be sure to put a call in to your LLMD/LLND to let them know.

Should go to the doctor about this. Many things can cause rectal bleeding, and if it is the first time you've ever had it, it needs to be investigated. Could be something as benign as mild hemmorhoids, but could also be a symptom of more serious things (inflammation, etc.).

Thank you Traveler and Razzle,

The blood is quite light in color and I'm in a bit of discomfort low down, I don't feel constipated though - I don't think I can afford an LLMD right now but I'll go and see my PCP and see what he says - he's been pretty useless so far but he might surprise me this time.

I occasionally get red blood in my stool. I'm also chronically constipated, even more so with being preggers. Good to get it checked out, but in the meantime don't fret!

I'm with Traveler, if it's bright red it means it hasn't been travelling a lot, so to speak. If it's dark, brown or black, please go see a doctor.
Bright red blood can be caused by hemmorhoids, they don't have to be huge to bleed, especially when you're constipated.

I thought I had lost all my dignity when I was having children in a teaching hospital and I had an unusual birthing experience -HA!! Lyme disease and company took all that was left!! LOL! I'll talk about anything now!!!

So, any word yet, Lymelymie? I do hope all is well!
