Are co infections hard to detect with standard CDC tests

I was tested for bartonella, erlichia, and babesia through CDC. Although my LLMD suspects bartonella, they all came up negative. Any hint on how to get a positive even with lyme through CDC?
I have been tested for lyme 4-5 times through CDC with negative results, despite of the physical symptoms of lyme and bart. smhair

I am new to this but was sick for a year before being taken seriously and starting treatment. My lyme test from CDC(reg dr.) and Igenex lab(California) were both negative for regular lyme, but strands indicated. My LLMD started treatment for co-infections bartonella and babesia due to my severe specific symptoms. I spent thousands of dollars and many tests/procedures, some I was put under for, to find nothing because no-one wanted to listen. I waited to get a LLMD appt over 2 months and it was worth it. Some don't take your insurance, etc. but you don't need to suffer. Now starting treatment 5 weeks ago I can tell you confirmed that I have co-infections due to the herx reactions I have that are very bizarre and intense at times. I found the LLMD list in my area by calling the Igenex lab in California and they emailed me any states list of doctors to reference. Best of Luck!!!

I love my LLMD's approach to testing with first provoking the infection.

My LLMD first tested for borellia with ELISA, which came up negative. We also tested for Babesia, which came up negative—but I later learned that the LabCorp test can only detect two babesia strains and I think there are over 20 so she was not surprised or discouraged that babesia was not positive (yet).

Thankfully, she had me start taking Olive Leaf Extract to "provoke" the borellia infection and hopefully stir up more immune response and therefore, antibodies that will be more detectable by the test. I did this for another month and then we retested w/ IGeneX Western Blot, which came up solidly CDC positive.

I also had a Fry test for Bart, which was positive but she said it would likely not be CDC positive enough for insurance purposes. And she wanted to "provoke" the Bartonella and Babesia again before retesting so I've been taking A-Bart and A-Bab for over a month now to "provoke" and we'll retest very soon. Odd, I had just the opposite reactions as kg_countrygirl—I've had so few herxing reactions to the herbs I was worried they weren't effective. I don't know but so far, it has helped the testing approach.

She wants to start treating those three infections first. She suspects I might have mycoplasma, maybe erlichia but won't worry about them until I've made some progress with the others.

Thank you all for the respond, every little information sure helps a lot.
I have heard what Pirouette is talking about. Medicating to the point of bringing down the load of bacteria, so the body can make some anti bodies. Since these tests look for antibodies, then BINGO, you finally get a CDC positive. But the again, every human body is different and responds differently to many approach... shakehead
