I hope it's okay to post this. Bartonella was recently featured on the People's Pharmacy radio show and you can also listen to the show at the link listed below. The hosts interviewed Dr. Breitschwerdt who is a vet and Infectious Disease Specialist and also Dr. Robert Mozayeni who is a rheumatologist located in Bethesda, MD. All three audio files have a lot of good information; they're a little lengthy but well worth the listen.

He says he uses a 2 antibiotic combination. Any idea which combination he uses? For some reason he doesn't mention that.

They started Galaxy Labs. Dr. Breitschwerdt is the MAN when it comes to bartonella. His lab at NCSU is the best place to have animals tested for vector borne disease too.

Around 21:08 in the bonus interview with Dr. Mozayeni he explains why he didn't feel comfortable naming the antibiotics he uses.

Also, Dr. Breitschwerdt told me that Dr. Mozayeni believes that people with a positive IgM and negative IgG for Borrelia actually have bartonella, not Lyme. I don't know what to think about that!

I wonder if they agree that Igenex band 31 is indicative of Bartonella.

I wouldn't think so. The paper that mentions band 31 and Bartonella used a Bartonella specific western blot. Both Bartonella and Lyme have 31 kDa proteins, but they aren't the same. HIV also has a 31 kDa band.

It has to be rifampin. It is over the course of a months and yet is cureative. Rifampin is the only antibiotic that matches what he describes.

Either rifampin combined with one of septra DS, minocycline, or Zithromax.

The protein weights cross over.  What each western-blot is measuring is protein weight in kilodaltans.  They say okay.  An HIV test... generally we will see these protein antibodies go positive.  Lyme test, these proteins will go positive... e.g. 31, 34, 39, 41.  Mono might also have different bands but includes 41 kDa.  The proteins do cross react over between diseases if they have the same molecular weight but might not even be the same antibody protein.  Some argue 41 is the first band to go positive in lyme disease but then others will argue it goes positive in epstein barr virus.  So I think some bands do actually cross over.

If that's true, maybe I have HIV! I have a specific band (41) and very close to another (23 and 24 could easily be confused). 18 is another HIV band. Oh, my band 23 was on Labcorp's western blot, not Igenex.

Obviously 41 isn't very specific and can be positive when other flagellates are present.

But I've spent tons of time researching this, and I can't find a single reputable source or peer reviewed paper that indicates Lyme bands could cross react with HIV or Bartonella.

I'm very open to new information. If you have some, I'd love to see it!

I am just saying... They are different proteins but they could come up as the same band if they have the same molecular weight. 18 KDa for HIV is a different antibody made than the 18kDa for Lyme.

That's why HIV requires a certain number of specific proteins, and Lyme disease requires certain specific proteins for a positive test. But they measure these still based on the proteins weight.

I actually just thought that is how it works. I don't have any sources to cite. Maybe I'm wrong? Looking it up on Wikipedia now lol.

Do any of you read better health guys website. Google it and you'll find it. He goes to all the lyme conferences and posts notes from each speaker on his blog. At a 2014 conference, one curious note that I read, from our famous dr. B was that band 31 cross reacted with anti neural antibody. I don't really know what that means, is our body attacking its own neural tissue? He didn't mention a cross reaction with bart in these notes.

Yes I went through better health guys website multiple times. His site is the first site I came to when I first thought I had Lyme disease, and he personally e-mailed me! I e-mailed him and he personally replied to my e-mails to help me out and encouraged me to see an LLMD.

See cross reaction does occur! That is the term I was looking for. That's why the IDSA is such a pain and being so stubborn in forcing everyone to get an ELISA test which limits that. Of course we know Lyme and co knock out the immune system so kind of hard to make antibodies if our immune system has been knocked out.
