Can Lyme cause Peripheral Vascular Disease?

I went to the doctor about my feet turning grayish blue when sitting on a stool or any chair where my feet don't hit the ground. I've always had spider veins and varicose veins, and she noted them when she was looking at my legs. She said to research Peripheral Vascular Disease and she scheduled me for a sonogram of my legs on Oct 1st.

I've been trying to figure out if Lyme Disease or associated diseases can cause this and if treatment for Lyme & Co can help resolve the issue.

This is funny (actually sad) - I asked my PCP if he could check for Hyper-coagulation and he said "You don't have that, and you don't have to worry about that." Then he said that Hyper-coagulation increases the risk of bleeding and I would notice that I bruise easily. I was sure he was wrong, but second guessed myself while at his office. I guess my doc is a genious, huh?

I'm going to a neurologist Thursday. I'll ask them if they can run tests to see if I have hyper-coagulation. I've been on nattokinase though and it's not helping.

Venous pooling!! That's what my vascular doc said to look up. I called the office and asked them what it was and the lady at the front desk forgot to call me back. When I called back in they said "Peripheral Vascular Disease". Thanks Girlie!

Have your symptoms subsided at all with treatment?

I would definitely be concerned with your doctor - hyper coagulation definition: "A hypercoagulable state is the medical term for a condition in which there is an abnormally increased tendency toward blood clotting (coagulation)." - not bleeding issues and not bruising issues.

Buhner's recommends red root for rouleau which can cause that symptom. It is apparently common in bartonella infections. My tingling symptoms resolved when I started using red root. Although the other bart herbs were helpful for my other symptoms, only red root helped tingling.

Since starting red root, I do not wake at night any more with my arms feeling "dead" and extremely painful. My extremities and nose are also feeling warmer than they used to. Tingling and "dead" feelings were my symptoms, I didn't have discolouration or visible loss of blood flow.

I don't know if this information is helpful. PVD is nothing to mess about with. I am glad you are seeing a doctor about it.

I purchase all of our tinctures from WoodLandEssence. They are an excellent company and highly recommended by Buhner.

As with all herbs, start at low doses and remain there for a week or so before increasing incrementally. We started with 1 drop 3x daily and have worked our way up to 4 drops 3x daily. The herb worked even at low dosages (2 drops 3x daily) for me.

By all means, keep investigating possible causes with your doctor. I have varicose veins and have had them treated with EVLT. It hasn't really helped because I keep popping out new ones, but I have and inkling that bartonella is somehow involved, because it has such a reputation for endothelial tissue damage.

Another thing to look into is nerve inflammation and/or destruction of the myelin sheath (the protective covering of the nerves).
