Minocycline - is it a HERX?

Hello everyone.
I am 33 days into minocycline 100 mg twice daily (we have started slowly with just one abx at a time). Since ca. 3 days: more fatigued, just can go out for a short walk once daily, sweat under my armpits, emotional, want to be left alone, can't proccess simple intellectual tasks, and feel as if I am going to loose CONSCIOUSNESS (that one is actually scary a bit for me). Does this sound like a herx? Or coinfections are showing up?

Have you had much of a herx before this? 33 days into abx is a while before experiencing a herx, but it certainly is possible.

I had a very, very difficult time on Mino- it crosses the Blood-Brain barrier- and it created way too many toxins for my body to handle - although I was on a much higher dose and it was back in 2007, so we know quite a bit more now than was known then about toxins and how they affect us.

You said that you feel like you are going to loose consciousness - do you mean you feel like you are going to pass out? Or just loose consciousness - I know they are similar. Is it random, constant, or when you stand up? Or when you exercise? Or is it all the time?

Are you detoxing lots? IF you are herxing and detoxing lots, you may have the gene mutation that makes it hard to rid the body of toxins easily. There are treatments if you have too much trouble with this.

Just sharing some thoughts. I hope that you start to feel better soon though!

Yes, initially, after few days on mino, there was also increase in flu-like feeling. But the worts came after ca. 30 days on it.
It was more of like loosing consciousness, especially before falling asleep at night.
Anyway, my dr. told me to take a short break of mino. 2 days after stopping it I felt better than before I was put on mino, so our guess is that there was some herxing involved.
Yes, I focus on detoxing, thank you.

I felt I had my first herx after switching to Mino. I had a few weeks where I had severe sinus congestion then about day 17 it was like majority of my symps returned. Like a bad flu + for about 5 days.

not sure if you can access this link but I made a youtube for family members to try and undefstand (no family under 400 miles away) it may not be exactly like your experience but I put it out there cause I was like you wondering if I was experiencing a herx and wanted others to have somethinv to compare.

Oh Roxie! I've had those days too - I'm so very sorry!! It's so hard to describe what herxing feels like, but you did well.

I've noticed that for me, sometimes a double dose of an antihistamine will help lower some of my symptoms to where they aren't so bad. When we feel the least like stepping up our detoxing routines is when we need to the most.

Herxing is an increase in cytokines, so we have to be careful as if it gets out of control, we can end up with a cytokine storm that can develop into a life threatening situation. So always keep an eye on how severe your symptoms are and if they seem very serious, get to an emergency room.
