I have been taking nystatin daily since February now!!!
What I found, it only causes a type of "yeast herx". It's yeast die off that is happening. And this type of herx is different than a lyme herx, it feels like a different kind of nausea and malaise kind of symptom. Very unpleasant, and seems to be mainly in the digestive tract only. I found when I took breaks from nystatin I would get more "yeast herxing" when I resumed taking it. But as long as I am consistent with taking it daily I have had no issues. I take them with my abx and generally I find they are easier to take with meals.
Also I found that when I follow an ultra strict diet, no carbs, no sugars, no gluten, no dairy, no carbs... The yeast herxing is non existent now. I think my yeast is in check. Also I no longer have a white tongue.
How long did it take for your die off symptoms to end? I'm only taking one and my doctor wants me to take three!
Traveler, I'm not on the candida diet, persay, but I don't eat gluten, sugar, dairy, vinegar. My only carbs are really gluten free oatmeal, rice, and quinoa. I've drastically cut back on caffeine (once or twice a week from once or twice a day), and I eat tons of veggies. Hope that's good enough...
