I'm herxing for the first time and every time I walk around my hands turn purple and white. What's the deal?

That's known as Raynauds phenomenon. For us it is usually caused by hyper-coagulation of the blood - or thick blood as it's sometimes called. You aren't getting enough blood circulating through your extremities.

You should call your LLMD and find out how they wish to address this. Some want to use prescriptions and others want to use natural means to address this.

I also have this problem. I haven't been officially diagnosed with Raynauds, but my finger tips especially turn a bluish-purple when I hold them down by my side, and my feet turn blue-gray when I am sitting at a bar stool. It was very concerning for me so I went to see a vascular specialist who took note of my many varicose veins and spider veins. I go for an ultrasound today (in 30 minutes to be exact). She'll be looking at the veins to see how they are functioning and if I have problems with the valves in the veins. She told me to look up vascular pooling and Peripheral Vascular Disease.

I have to add that although this has been a real issue for more than a month it seems to have calmed down a bit lately. I'm surprised since it's getting colder outside.

I purchased a supplement by Herb Pharm that is specifically for veins. Maybe it's working?

Let me know how your appointment goes! It's scares me when I look down and they are almost black. They get really cold I'm not sure if it happens to my feet too.

I'll try to remember to update you when they give me the results, which isn't until Oct 9th. They did the ultrasound, but the doctor doesn't review the ultrasound until the end of the day, so I don't have any info today.

My cousin has Lyme and for years, her ankles were very swollen and very colorful....some red, some purple. Now, after treatment the swelling is gone but the color is still that of a new bruise.

It's happening to my face too. The skin on my hands and face are also...different. Really dry and thin and crusty almost? very wrinkly. they get soo dry that when i clench my fists every wrinkle with crack open and start to bleed. I really don't want my face getting this any worse, its hideous. swollen, red, purple, white, huge veins.... yuck.

Do your hands get really cold when they turn purple? Then it would be Raynaud's.

I have noticed really thin skin too, like a senior citizen's skin. My feet look like the crusts you can see on the bottom of Death Valley. They crack and bleed.

Not so much my face. Dry and thin yes, but not wrinkly or crusty.

You need to use some kind of soothing herbal balm, like Comfrey. You can also make garlic oil, and apply that. You definitely need some kind of moisturizer on your hands.

You should probably see the doctor about your face.

The skin looking "old" is known as Acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans or ACA and is due to late stage Lyme disease.
Here is an article on it and it has some pictures. During my first infection I had ACA, although my skin didn't discolor quite as much as is shown. It did clear up though with treatment for Lyme.

I really hope it clears up. My hands are usually freezing my poor son winces when I touch him :( I've been putting this stuff called injury oil all over but it's really gross stuff. I wouldn't want to be seen in public like that. I guess its not worse than normal though. My hands look exactly like my 84 year old grandmas. There is a perfect line at my wrists where the skin returns to normal. I really hope it goes away with treatment. They burn when they get wet. And they just dont work as well they are stiff and swollen. My hands look maybe even worse than the pictures I've seen on google. Sucks :(

Yes I have I've done udder balm and farmers hands too. It doesn't seem to make any difference it just makes them feel more hot.

I Am Seeing An llmd. I've only had one appointment and we covered so much he didn't really say anything about it he just wrote it down and promised he could help me feel better again. I don't go again for another month.

I would say find ways to gently warm your hands (holding on to a warm cup of tea works well) and wear gloves any time you can. You can protect them from the drying effects of water by using latex or other water proof gloves, and try to find some almond oil or some other oil that will moisturize the skin without burning.

Be sure to take good care of your feet as well.

I noticed yesterday my feet look like they are doing the same thing :( good thing it is almost gloves weather. I'm embarrassed to go out to eat I don't know how to answer people when they ask what is wrong with them. I don't like to say it's from an infection then they look at me like I have the plague!! The injury oil I have gives a lot of relief the ingredients are all organic olive oil fresh St Johns wort leaves and flowers and wintergreen

Use whatever works best for you and don't forget to bring it up to your doctor. You are having circulation issues.

You can tell them that it's suspected Raynaud's or that you are having circulation troubles - that's the truth!!

Ya they said that's what it was and told me to lay down more and relax. They told me to take only half of the antibiotics and detox as much as possible. My blood pressure has been like 260/80 with only 35 bpm. My mother in law said I could have a stroke. It's usually pretty normal but it goes crazy a couple times a day. What is the heart block stuff about? How would I know if my ticker was giving up?

I have Raynauds, for about 25 years now. Can be very painful when going from white-puple-red.
Few hints:
-extra clothes
-avoid cold situations (I have hubby do the grocery shopping- too much in the cold section)
-don't wear leather or tight fitting gloves. Cashmere gloves are better, or mittens.
-under armour clothing in winter
-when fingers are changing colors and painful, move your arms backwards in a circular windmill style as fast as you can without hurting yourself (lol). It looks a little silly, but it works to stop the cycle.

IHL, you need to get in to see a doctor if you are having heart issues or think you could. They will run tests to see how well it's working and can make whatever medication changes are necessary. If the Cardio finds anything wrong, you will need to talk to your LLMD before having anything done, as many times the changes are due to Lyme and if the Lyme is treated, then the issue goes away. Although if you are having serious heart issues, then treatment is always necessary.

Your LLMD should be looking at starting you on some kind of therapy to thin your blood. This is a serious condition and using 1/2 strength abx won't treat the infections. If your LLMD isn't addressing this appropriately, you should find a different one right away!! Not all LLMD's are created equally.

I think he is a good doctor. When I saw him he didn't have any of my records. I did wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks and it showed pvc and pac and sinus tachycardia. I did a tilt table test and my blood pressure dropped and my p waves dissappeared. No one explained what this meant or why it is happening. They gave me propranolol and it made my heart rate 150-200 for a few hours every time I took it so they told me to stop. I brought my blood pressure cuff and my llnd looked through it and said "hun, you're really sick..". I go back in 2 weeks. He reassured me that it wasn't good but said he could help me feel well again. I'm not sure how worried I should be. If it is from Lyme then taking the medicines is the only way to help it right? I'm only 25.... I don't know what a p wave is either. This llnd is the only doctor I've seen in the last 3 years that seems concerned at all..

Could I die from my blood pressure being that bad? It feels horrible and I used to pass out a lot when i was like 16 but I was never sure if it was from my heart or not. I also have anisocoria which freaks me out too..

Well, I know that my Mom went in to have a check up and when her blood pressure registered at almost 200 for the top number, they told her she couldn't leave until it went back down.

According to the American Heart Assoc, 140/90 is too high.

You may need to be on Blood pressure medication until your BP returns to a more normal rate. Many people have to use meds temporarily while they are in treatments.
