Tinnitus...help!!

I have been off antibiotics for Lyme for around 3 months. I just needed a break. Now all of a sudden I have what sounds like crickets chirping in my ear(I don't know, do crickets chirp?

For the past 2 months I have been taking 1/4 of a 250 mg Ery-Tab(erythromycin) pill. I have read that this antibiotic can cause tinnitus, but would such a small dose cause it? I am taking it for delayed gastric emptying. BTW, it works!

Not sure if I should stop taking it the Ery-Tab or if I should go back on antibiotics for Lyme?? do you think it's because I stopped taking meds for Lyme??

The only other new thing I am taking is pumpkin seed oil for my bladder. I *don't think* that this would cause tinnitus.

Thanks for your reply! I don't have an llmd, my doc is out of town so I"ll contact next week and see about getting back on antibiotics again.

I have stopped taking the Ery-Tab and so far no more cricket chirping noises. I *think* the Ery-Tab might have been the cause.

Hi Traveler, the low dose is what my GI doc prescribed. Anyway, it worked It kept me from getting heartburn in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. It wasn't for lyme.

Yes, I will not take it anymore. The noise were annoying!!

I have 24x7 tinnitus. Initially I blamed meds because it would seem to stop soon after I stopped the meds. Since January 2009 I havd had it all the time. Can wear you out, I try to ignore but when not feeling well have no mental energy to ignore. I have often descibed the annoyi g sound as cicadas or crickets, lots of them. I night when I went to the mailbo I noticed I did not hear the noise in my ears, head....because the cicadas hsd a noise cancelli g affect.
