Ok so last night was a really good night...slept pretty well, arms didn't hurt, leg didn't ache, and didn't have any vibrations for a change! Was excited to wake up...but then been at work all day and noticing a lot of muscle twitches...really bothersome since I did have such a good night. Kinda puts a damper on things. In the past few hours I  have had about 7 in my left leg, 6 in my right and a couple in both arms.  They are just random...like bump...I'm still here...ugh!  Why or why must this be after such a good night? Thoughts?

Are you taking a magnesium supplement? Hey, a good night is still something to be grateful for! Muscle twitches are much more common then not in LD so I am sure you will get a boatload of advice on here shortly from members. ;)

Yeah I take magnesium everyday...along with a billion other pills it seems! I just hate having such a good day or night then you get all happy...then something happens to bring you back down : (

With Lyme, are muscle twitches always from lack of magnesium? Just curious because I have seen it listed as a neuro symptom and also connected with Bartonella as well as Lyme.

I've wondered this myself. To be honest I do t think anyone knows. All of the above can cause muscle twitches. I've even heard nerve damage can.

I struggled with some awful nights and pain during the day… until I started taking Low Dose Naltrexone. It takes awhile for your body to adjust to it but I swear by it.

@runnergirl - no I don't believe lack of magnesium is always responsible for twitches. If someone is herxing and bacteria are dying near the nerves, that could also cause twitching or as you mentioned nerves misfiring. Lack of certain nutrients; magnesium, calcium, potassium etc. that are important for muscles are the more common cause usually but that doesn't rule out the other causes. There are probably a lot more too.

Even if you're not herxing, I believe having lyme and/or cos can cause muscle twitching.
Early on I had it everyday - almost all day long. The lyme can irritate the nerves causing twitching, weakness, and nerve pain.

I read Bart is particularly hard on the nerves.

For me my nervous system issues are my worst - twitches, weakness, nerve pain and vibrations/buzzing in my body. Oh and I also had tremors bad - but they subsided even before treatment started.

Girlie -- I have all of those same nervous system issues as you (terrible twitches all day, weakness, nerve pain and vibrations inside...and also tremors and shakiness). My LLMD says I have Bart. Do you have Bart as well?

Runner-My LLMD does think I could have bart but he decided during my last appt in Oct to try and do cyst busting - I think we'll be hitting bart next appt. But i'm not keen on taking Rifampin. Some have used Bactrim instead, but I'm concerned about Steven Johnson syndrome. I occasionally get rashes on my front and back since i have started treatment.. so am concerned about going on bactrim.

Are the nervous system symptoms your worst? They scare me sometimes. And mine worsen in the evenings. If I put any pressure on my arm - like push myself up out of a chair.... My arm shakes - and thats my good arm.

Where is your nerve pain? Is it sharp, shooting pain or burning pain?
