Just remember not only do we have different tolerance levels for detoxing methods, but we have different tolerance for the herbs used in these teas too!
If you are allergic to rag weed, watch out for milk thistle. Some people (like me
) that are allergic to the rag weed cannot tolerate milk thistle, so we must do other things to help our liver.
And yes, also be careful that your detoxing doesn't set off a herx! Back in 2007 when I was just starting out, it didn't matter how gentle the detox was, it all gave me a 3 day migraine along with all of my symptoms increasing!! Talk about
miserable!
When you use something to detox, you are releasing the toxins from where they are being stored in the body - joints, muscles, organs, where ever - and they go into the blood stream. This is when we can herx -too many toxins in the blood stream. So slow and steady is the rule.
From the blood stream, the blood gets filtered by the lymph nodes, which is why they can swell and get rock hard... and hurt!
Lymph massages, red root, dry skin brushing and a few other things can be a big help in getting the lymph moving to flush the toxins out of the lymph nodes.
Next we have to consider the liver and the kidneys. They need help often as well. As I said, many can take milk thistle and this simple, inexpensive supplement is very effective for most. The kidneys can be kept up with cranberry juice for the most part.
Of course there are other things that can be used too to help the different organs to deal with the toxins that we must flush out of our bodies too - it seems like everyone has their own favorites! But this is good! Not one thing will work for everyone, so sharing different things to try helps us all!
