They sting for me, but the only thing that actually hurts is the B-12 if you don't warm it up nicely first. I put the syringe, with the cap firmly in place, in my arm pit to warm. When I switch it to the other armpit and can't really feel it, then I know it's warm enough.
Always be sure to be quick when inserting the needle, hesitation or pulling it back and doing it again will likely hurt. So just take a deep breathe and insert the needle.
Don't use the alcohol soaked cotton ball to put pressure on the injection site - alcohol thins the blood possibly setting you up for a small bruise. Instead, use a tissue, clean cotton ball or something similar to put pressure on the injection site for a couple of minutes.
