For those of you who do not know me - I will give a brief (sort of!!) history of my battle with lyme
It all started a year ago in October 2013. Went hiking - got a tickbite, didn't realize what it was, bc there was no rash. November started with severe anxiety, weakness in my legs, depression and insomnia. Totally not me. December came and I had cystitis the entire month. Literally was in love with the bathroom (not)! January - i started getting little bits of joint pain here and there, ok, no biggie. Then I had conjunctivitis and a sinus infection. Took augmentin for a week. Two days later, I got a flash of pain all over my joints, I was in so much pain, but didn't feel sick. it was the weirdest sensation ever. Felt better the next day. Decided to take a dip in the jaccuzzi bc it was my bday weekend. Bad idea (obviously) - the next day the migrating pains started. Then came the muscle twitches, nerve pain, muscle weakness in my arms and legs....a week following the tingling and numbness started, then the nausea and the sweats, rib pain, foot pain,....... HOLD ON!!! I was an absolute WRECK. I am 39 yrs old, mother of 3 - I could not even take care of my kids. And what does the DR do - he gives me nortriptyline bc he says I have fibromyalgia - total BS. I didn't take it. my parents and my husband both suggestion lyme. I did the research and sure enough, I just knew it was that. The lyme test came back negative (just the well known ridiculous nonreliable ELISA test), and I tried to convince him that it didn't mean a darn thing but he wouldnt listen. I am a pharmacist, so I was lucky to have access to meds. Although I convinced a walk in clinic dr to prescribe doxy, she didn't give me enough until I saw my LLMD, so I helped myself to some extra where I worked (at the time).
In Feb of this year, my most wonderful LLMD who I owe my awesome health to clinically diagnosed me with lyme and bart. She started me off slow on doxy then added Zithromax then switched doxy to Bactrim (bc I couldn't handle doxy over the summer). I also took herbs such as teasel root, serrazymes, tried GSE, but it didn't agree with me, took a handful of vitamins, nutritionals, omega, fish oil, etc. She focused on the immune system. She said the antibiotics definitely kill the bacteria, but not alone - the immune system plays a huge role, which is why she is against giving any patient loads of meds at a time bc doing that damages the body's ability to fight on its own and causes more problems.
I stopped the Bactrim at the end of august
stopped the Zithromax on sept 19th.
over two months later, I am doing just great!!
Instead of taking cystbusters and such, I started magnetic therapy. I can't really explain it too well bc I am still trying to understand it myself. I just know that it works, for several reasons. it is supposed to "balance out" the body. It creates a magnetic force in the body that draws the bad stuff out into the
open for the immune system to fight. It also is supposed to make your body highly alkaline, which we all know lyme does not like. I herxed after both treatments (one in sept, one in oct), and felt better after each time. All I have left now is a pinched nerve in my shoulder and twitches here and there (very seldom compared to what it used to be, supposedly all due to nerve damage). I asked my dr - "how can I be sure it is not the lyme causing this". she confidently said, it is not lyme, bc it is too localized. if you still had lyme, you would feel it through your body. she was right. I can literally say I am fine. and guess what else - I am not even taking herbs. some of you may say its a bad idea, but guess why I am not taking anything - bc I am PREGNANT!!
yes, I was in complete awe and shock and I don't know what else to say. I just went thru a hell of a year physically, but I am thrilled. I am not worried. I don't know why I am not worried. I guess bc I feel fine. I have been pregnant 7 times already, had 4 miscarriages. And I just got over lyme disease. my husband is taken aback on how calm I am. but even he agrees with me - I think I am in better health now then I ever was, which is why I got pregnant so easily. I had numerous issues in the past, always got pregnant naturally, but it took months of unprotected sex for it to finally happen. although we have had protected sex countless times in the past year, we have had unprotected sex maybe only 6 times in the past 3 months, and that was basing it on the rhythm method, so I should not have even been fertile - which means something - my body is in good shape and is ready for it. I have 3 kids, always wanted four, and pretty much decided against having anymore after suffering so much this past year. But may God's Will be done!
so here I go, full steam ahead - please wish me luck!! =)
