Feelingd sick and down today

Hi guys,

So I havn't posted in a while. I went to see a LLMD in NY in November and she diagnosed me with chronic lyme and bartonella. I left there with a handful of prescriptions that i now have to get re-written by a canadian doc so that my health insurance will cover them. Not so easy to do ( im from Toronto).

The only one my doc will represcribe is the Doxy. She gave me enough to take 4x 100 mg per day. Probably not going to do much since ive been sick for 10 months.

I have an appointment Jan 9th with a new doc that a friend of mine goes to who does represcribe for her and I'm hoping she will do the same for me or else im pretty much outta luck since there is no way I could afford to purchase all these meds.

In the meantime im getting very depressed, anxious and feeling crappy daily. I was feeling pretty good over xmas but crashed the next day and just feel like dirt. Not much pain, more fluish, tingling constantly, numbness and tired.

Ive been taking epsom salts baths and taking 200 mg doxy a day along with lemon water, probiotics and magnesium supplements. Ive had to take a couple days off work to just get some rest.

I guess I will need to look into the herbal route if tbis doc doesn't help me out. Can anyone (Trav?) give me an idea on how much approx these herbs cost? I know its specific to to the persons needs but an approximate? Im looking into Buhners right now.

Gotta say, im not feeling hopeful about all this and a few encouraging words would go a long way right now.

Sorry to hear about your struggles, I understand completely.
I am no expert, but from my readings and personal experience.
200 mg of Doxy is not a large enough daily dose to be effective.
I would go with 400 mg a day.

I am in B.C. and am lucky to be treated by a LLND in the Vancouver area. I live on Vancouver Island, and had my initial consult in person, and have been doing phone appts. ever since.
If you have a flexible schedule...maybe you could get a seat sale and fly to B.C....have an initial consult with the LLND in Vancouver area...and then you could do the next several months appts - via phone call.
I know it's very expensive to fly Ontario to BC...so not sure if an affordable seat sale would even come up. But, if it was one trip, and then you were able to get several months of treatment after that via telephone...it may end up being cheaper than going to NY...if you're having to keep making that trip?


So, it sounds like ND's can't prescribe antibiotics in Ontario? That's rough.

I know the new bill that was passed sounds promising, but it will be a while before anything significant changes.

Regarding herbal route - I am finding Buhner's protocol - not too expensive. At the beginning,especially, as I started first with the lyme herbs and after a few months, am adding in the bartonella herbs...so costing more now...but still not too bad.

Thanks Girlie and Pirouette, your responses mean alot to me. Girlie, I actually made the 6 hr drive to NY to see the doc there and that really didn't bother me. The problem is that I am having trouble getting the meds re-prescribed. She gave me scripts for Doxy, metronidazole, clarithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, and nystatin oral powder.
