What caused your worst herx to date?

During your treatment, what medication/supplement/treatment/detox method/etc. gave you your worst herx to date?

For me, it was Bactrim. It kicked the crap out of me.

I'm curious if anyone's worst herx was from anything other than an antibiotic.

I'm Also just wondering if there is anything else I should be reading about and/or thinking about trying. I've been feeling really good lately, but I don't want that to hinder me from continuing my fight, in fact, I'm in full combat mode these days. :)

For me it was whe I started my first oral antibiotic/supplement course.
I thought I was genuinly dying, I couldn't open my eyes without having seizure like episodes, and I constantly lived with an Icepack on my head for weeks, it lasted without let up for about 6 weeks and got so bad I even had a solicitor come to my house to write and arrange a will. Those were some dark days...

While I have had terrible herxes from the many antibiotics I have taken (Tindamax being the worst), and pretty bad reactions to herbs, exercise and travel, it is Byron White's A-BAB that has been the most powerful.

And when I first started detoxing

All three really kicked me in the gut and put me back into bed for a week or more.

Now, however, I know that I must start detoxing slowly before ever starting any treatments - and I follow that closely!! Lesson learned for me!!

Two bad herxes - both from antibiotics. The first one was from Doxycycline - terrible lower, mid and upper back pain. Lasted about a week, and then I reduced the doxy to get rid of it.
The second one was from biaxin - shivers/nervous system on overdrive.

Both horrible in different ways.
The second one went away within a few hours.

A-L complex brought my first herx on and Minocycline was the first anx I took and I got so drunk feeling from it and sick, I thought I would die. Never took it again. Then Bactrim or Plaquinil caused me to break out in a bad rash that lasted over 2 weeks.

Most of my herxing now is just increase in pain and fatigue.

It sounds like most of us had our worst herxes during the first round of treatment.

Interesting that some of you had your worst herx from herbals. I've never had a really terrible herx from an herbal, but I've definitely had mini-herxes from them. All of my intense/long herxes came from prescription meds. Although, I've been on herbals from the beginning, constantly changing things up as I progress, so who knows for certain.

For me it was adding Bactrim to Rifampin while having taken Fluconazole a few days earlier. Had a severe herx that lasted for two whole weeks. I had to stop ALL medicine, herbs and treatment for a week to allow the toxins to exit my body.

The worst part is that there is a delay between taking the meds and when the herx happens. You think you are OK for a few day to a week then BAM! it hits you like a ton of bricks.

Healing98 - Yeah, that's what happened to me with my Bactrim herx. I was totally fine for a few days, even thought "maybe I can get through this without an awful herx," THEN BA-BA-BAM. That herx was THE WORST.

Minocycline, lasted just under week. My 2nd round was changed to Minocycline

Monolaurin brought on the strongest herx for me mostly in the form of muscle pain and flu-like feelings.

The combo of Rifampin and Doxy for me.

Thats exactly what happened to me on the 3rd day at 2am in the morn. I mean WHOA. State of craziness is what I will sum it up to. Had breathing troubles for months following that herx that finally straightened out(thank God). Dr Horowitz mentioned Bart causing/triggering Sarcoidosis sometimes in a video....still dont know if that was the case with the breathing thing because the Rifampin smacked Bart in the face so hard or what...
