I keep meaning to post this, and there are probably now only a few days left to hear it . . . it's an interview which was broadcast on a national uk radio station (radio 5 live), and is great for Lyme disease awareness in the uk. I find it incredible that this lady went to hospital with an embedded tick and a clear bullseye rash, and was STILL not diagnosed with Lyme disease! But this is what we are up against here :-(. Please have a listen if you have a spare 15 minutes. The interview starts at 46 minutes in so just skip thru to that point:

I wonder how quickly lyme + co would be pulled out of the grey area if a politicians daughter was admitted with a tick bite?..

Exactly Carl. Sad but true. Great to hear the lyme debate getting a good airing on uk media for once though - it's still relatively unheard of over here, and I'm amazed at how clueless the NHS is about
it :-(

Yeah it's crazy, when I originally went to my GP and said about
lyme he sent me to a neurologist for testing which he said without a shadow I do not have any sort of lyme or co. But I had been on bupa for absolutely ages and completely forgot I phoned them and they sent me to the same doctor!!! So I'm assuming nowhere in the UK except the odd private funded clinic has a clue about
it

My NHS neurologist didn't even want to see my positive test results from igenex - said they "do not accept the diagnosis" as the tests are from overseas so they "do not recognise them", and stand behind their own "excellent and very reliable" (yeah, right) lyme test, which, of course, was negative. GP similarly not interested. So I'm having to practically bankrupt myself getting treated by the one private clinic in the UK that I know of. Really, the situation here is absolutely scandalous . . The NHS seems to have its head firmly buried in the sand over this. If/when I ever get better, I hope I will be able to do something to address this!

Yeah I know exactly where your coming from, my experience was exactly the same. Are you going to Breakspear for treatment in Hemel Hempstead?
