Does anyone have any info re lyme and pregnancy? I got a positive Ispot test and of course while I'm waiting for a treatment plant with my LLMD I learn that I am almost six weeks pregnant.
I'm worried about being on abx during pregnancy as well as anything that can be transmitted to the baby. But I feel that I'm in such a bad place right now bc of lyme, mold, and coinfections that I don't even know how my body is capable of a healthy pregnancy.

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated!

When I was pregnant, all of my lyme symptoms went away. Praying that happens with you. When I quit breastfeeding my sx came back😔

I have had 2 children while I was undiagnosed with lyme. But I had great pregnancies and like jaysann said my lyme symptoms went away while I was pregnant.

I do know that it can be transmitted to the baby sometimes, but it is rare if I remember correctly. There is a specialty lab that once the baby is born you collect cord blood and cord tissue and they analyze it for lyme. My cousin was on antibiotics for chronic lyme during her pregnancy, but it was after her initial treatment. It was more to protect the baby as a proactive measure. I'm not sure of the name of the lab off the top of my head, but I can get it for you if you want more information on it.
He was negative for lyme and is doing fabulous now!! He will be 3 this year :)

You should take an abx like penicillin or amoxicillin while pregnant, to help protect the baby. Have the cord blood tested at a reputable lab when the baby is born, and then get good Lyme treatment when you are no longer pregnant and not breastfeeding the baby.

I too was pregnant and had two healthy children before having any treatment, but we shouldn't take any risks that are easily avoidable with our children when it comes to these infections. I can speak from experience that it's no fun growing up with these infections, since I was first infected by age 7.

I echo Trav. If I'm blessed to have more and haven't cleared the Lyme yet, I will take amoxicillin to be safe.

I had one child while in my young 20s, before I knew I'd had Lyme since I was 8. She was born perfectly healthy, is brilliant, beautiful, all the good stuff. :-) The only thing I can now relate to Lyme is that I had overwhelming nausea and exhaustion for all 9 months of the pregnancy and couldn't gain weight. Food made me sick; I gained only 11 pounds for an 8-pound baby! I bet that was the untreated Lyme playing a role.

I was undiagnosed with lyme and company when I had my son. I knew right away something was terribly wrong. To cut a very long story short, we both almost died when he was born. He was very sick for the fist 18 months of his life. I'm getting him tested very shortly because there is still something a little off about him.

Trust your instincts! I told the many doctors that I saw that I felt like something was wrong and they needed to figure it out. They didn't believe me, and we almost paid for it with our lives. I know alot of people have really good pregnancies when they are sick. I had a very different experience.

Some doctors say that its completely possible to avoid what I went through just by taking some antibiotics during pregnancy. You have to weigh the risks and benefits and go with what YOU feel is right for yourself and your baby.

Information is scarce on this subject.

There is a closed group on Facebook called Lyme and pregnancy. I am not pregnant but it's a good group with lots of respectful, smart women. If it were me, knowing what I've read, the risk of being on the abx far outweigh any chance of giving my kid Lyme. There are pregnancy safe abx. Took into the Horowitz protocol for pregnancy, there's a chapter in his book on it.

Thank you all for this wonderful information! I've been really stressed bc I have so many mold symptoms and lyme symptoms that I don't know how to decipher which is which. I have a call in with my LLMD Tom and am just hoping that she'll tell me everything is going to be fine...
