Hey, has anyone experienced symptoms that fit major depression? My anxiety has shifted to extreme apathy/anhedonia, can this be lyme related?

After getting diagnosed with lyme my anxiety shot through the roof. I know that lyme causes anxiety, and also being sick makes your body go into a panic mode, naturally, because you are sick.
I too suffer from anhedonia. I don't enjoy daily activities like I use to. Mostly because I'm so fatigue..my body starts to panic when it involves being in places with a lot of people, or and for me I loved working out..but now stepping into the gym makes me go crazy. But you have to find things to make you happy and relieve stress..so you're body can fight this infection off.
I know it isn't easy and I'm still working on my depression/anxiety as well. I hope things get easier for you soon.
And stick with this forum! They are so friendly, and helpful. Deff helps me get through rough times :)

Depression, anxiety, anhedonia and rage were the symptoms that prompted me to get to the doctor. When I got a postive Lyme test result it made everything I'd been going through over the previous 25 years make sense.
Are you getting treatment?

A lot of anxiety is triggered by an improper GI flora due to H pylori or Streptococcus. Both of these bacteria sequester metals (primarily aluminum.) If you reduce the aluminum level and replenish with desirable bacteria, your symptoms may get better. A quality probiotic used with either Pectasol-C or D-Limonine would help with the aluminum and start you down the right path.

I'll have to look into that, Hunter, sounds interesing.
Achievinggrace, how did you manage for 25 years? :O I hope you're feeling better.
Actually I told my dad about
the EM rash I had several years ago and asked him to look into lyme disease and help me find a good doc, but by now it seems I've lost every ounce of crediblity and my parents seem to have accepted that I'm just messed up in the head, soo I don't exactly have a diagnosis yet...

All good posts… I had similar issues before starting treatment that exploded after I started treatment—partially due to herxing but also, sometimes detoxing can pull toxins out of tissues, triggering an emotional response. My advice is to detox safely and slowly but effectively (fine line) and try not to fight the emotions… let them wash over you-=—they need to be released from your body just as the toxins do.
Be good to yourself, figure out what your triggers are (SO difficult for me to do so hope you're better at it than I am), develop reliable coping mechanisms, and grow your confidence in knowing how to get through your day in the best, healthiest way.
Also, I found out really late in life, unfortunately, that I have DNA mutations that make my neurotransmitter balance nearly impossible. Knowing how to compensate for imbalances and supporting methylation is also important to being able to reduce the stress on your body while healing.
