I've heard of lymies taking a teaspoon of coconut oil a day. What would the benefits of this be for us?

Coconut oil has many amazing health benefits. One benefit is that it contains Lauric acid which can kill harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Another benefit is that it is also good for the brain.

My doctor said it is a good for joints and is a really good fat.

I've been giving my son about 3 teaspoons of coconut oil a day now for over a month (before that I'd give him some here and there, but not every day and not 3 teaspoons of it).

I think it is really benefitting him. I'm sure of it. He had been having some yeast issues (pretty sure) and herxing bad with lyme die-off and yeast I believe. Since amping up the detoxing this past fall and winter and now adding the daily coconut oil he's doing better than ever.

he was already almost symptom free, but I know I'm hearing less of the already rarer-than- not physical complaints, and I believe it (along with chlorella and clay baths and an anti-yeast diet) have brought him out of some herxing and are helping him improve all the more.

It's good as an antimicrobial and it increases your energy. My son took it when he felt at his lowest point of his only 10 yrs of life. He could barely walk. We gave him coconut oil and his legs would be stronger so he could support himself and go to the bathroom at least by himself.

The worst day he had I probably gave him 10 spoons. He calls it the miracle oil and he feels completely exhausted he asks for it. If he is feeling ok, he won't touch it. Human nature lol. Who wants to eat 10 spoons of oil? Do a search. It has more benefits than we can ever imagine. You can use it for cooking as well.

Stacestar-if you read this, could you please tell me the brand of coconut oil youve been giving to your son? Ive never tried and I am going to get some on my next vitamin order :)

(Or if anyone else can recommend a good brand!)

I use Extra Virgin Organic coconut spread it is made with the coconut oil. I dont use the core coconut oil at the moment but the spread is great to put on certain gluten free organic snacks or to cook with, tastes good as well.

My husband got nutiva and it's excellent. There are other brands and we didn't try them all. We tried one other and it was ok. Then I decided I will get 5 gallons and I did a search and tropical traditions came up with good review. I made a mistake with that one! After I bought it I saw on amazon people say it smells like dirty feet. I agree! It's pretty gross! But I mix it with olive oil and use it for cooking. They use a different extraction process and it doesn't even smell like coconut! I can't cook with it unless I mix it with olive oil to hide the smell! If u want to try it, go to the company site and order a sample. They will charge u for shipping but at least you won't get stuck with a 5 gallon bucket of oil that u don't know what to do to get rid of!

I also use it to massage my son. I warm it up to get it to a liquid form and it's ok for that. Pretty expensive way to get rid of organic extra virgin coco oil. Lol

Okay thx DolphZF & Simela1! I want to try the oil pulling and use it to wash my hair sometimes. I hadnt really thought about eating it much but I am now Dolph. I also like the idea of using it for massage!

One of my professors in grad school wrote quotes on the board before starting his lesson. That one stuck to me and it rules my life whenever things get tough :). I tried to find out who said it and I couldn't! But I still love the quote--I can't take credit for it, though.

Thanks for your replies! I've been using this as my nightly moisturizer and my skin has never looked better but kept wondering what the internal benefits could be.

did the oil pulling for the first time today. Only for 5 minutes, but it's a start. I was able to clear my throat, so I will continue doing it. Never knew what it was, I had to look it up LOL

orchid-rain,

just read your question about brand now. What I give him is the Spectrum brand, Organic unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil. I also used another brand last month, Tree Of Life, b/c it was on sale at the health food store and it seemed just as good.
