MASSIVE Headaches, can't take it anymore - HELP

I've been dealing with migraines a lot too.

It's awful. Today, I got nausea. I never used to have nausea or auras with them, but I do now. And this one lasted most of the day.

Do you take Imitrex? That works for me, but only if it's isolated migraines; otherwise, I have a rebound effect.

Resolute, aren't you supposed to put something on your feet too? Nothing seems to work for me, except for the Imitrex, which can be a trap.

I have become incredibly sensitive to chocolate and vinegar. I get a migraine even if I put cocoa butter on my skin.

I don't know how much this will help, but I've been dealing with migraines since I was 11. Now, I do not drink soda or eat processed sugars, but when I have a migraine that excedrin won't kick down, I take 1 tylenol 650mg, 1 motrin 200-400mg and drink a regular coke. I do this all in a dark room and have both an ice pack and heating pad readily available. Sometimes one feels better than the other and if you have both there, no need to get up again. I usually put the ice pack at the base of my skull where your spinal cord meets it, and if I'm using the heating pad i usually to my entire back, shoulder and neck (I have one that wraps you up in a cozy hug).

Mine weren't related to the same thing as yours ,but they are worse during my mentstrual cycle. I was getting 2-3 debilitating migraines a month for a couple years until I finally found an acupuncturist that worked wonders for my migraines. Just throwing it out there!

Also, I recently started seeing a chiropractor for my left sided neck and shoulder pain and he has helped tremendously with my headaches as well! They were lasting for days at a time and not they are very scarce and sporadic.

Hope this helps a little bit and you're feeling better! I don't know where you are, but I'm in Chicago and we got 18 inches of snow and its still coming down! I want to venture out to build a snow man tomorrow if my body cooperates :)

The key to treating migraines is to determine what is causing them. This can sometimes be achieved by doing weekly experiments limiting what you eat, drink, or limiting exposure to triggers like Bounty dryer sheets or similar objects. Other times, you must supplement deficiencies. Using the cocoa butter example above, it could be methylation issue because of the caffeine or the trace amounts of theobromide that are in the cocoa butter. If it's caffeine related, it can be a methylation issue which often goes back to heavy metal blockage of the pathway. Over time with observation, migraines can be limited or eliminated. This was one of the first things I had to do when I got Lyme. I did the same thing with my kidney stones. Careful observation with experimentation can lead you down the right road.

Thanks but I pretty much know what started all of this already - its either due to the blood loss from the miscarriage or the drastic drop in my hormone levels also due to the miscarriage. The question now is are these headaches still due to these reasons or are they now rebound headaches from the excedrin?!

I'm sooo happy you have found a bit of relief, Chapelle!!! It's hard to deal with much when your head feels like it's about to explode - or you are wishing it would just hurry up and get it over with!!

Even if it is rebound headaches, weaning off of the headache/migraine meds will bring relief now! I hope that it all goes smoothly and with as few issues as possible!!!

Thanks Traveler - and guess what, today was the first day I did not have a headache!!! And guess why - I did not take any of my vitamins. I have a feeling the Iron was the culprit. It never fails, whenever I take something I don't need or it is too strong for me, I get a headache. So I sat down and thought hard - I figured I did get the migraine initially b/c of the miscarriage, but figured it should have been gone by now. So I thought some more and said to myself, although the rebound effect was possible, the only thing different I have been ingesting is the iron, and maybe I don't need the extra iron anymore, well, hopefully I am right! If I wake up tmrw morning without a headache, I think I can finally close the doors on this whole ordeal!! =)

I had my obgyn visit early this morning, as a follow up, and I asked about the migraines - the Dr suggested I see a neurologist and get my eyes checked - WHY DO I EVEN BOTHER asking about these things??? !!!! LOL

So sorry, Chapelle, that you are having a hard time.

Ibuprofen, ice and massage help me a lot. 600 mg. of ibuprofen and a few minutes of wearing an ice cold gel cap usually brings quick relief.

Congratulations on no headache!!!!! I hope that the iron is the culprit, that way you have it figured out!

My hubby has just ended a 10 day migraine - with the help of a very gentle Chiro that understands his special needs - so I can truly sympathize.

I am so sorry your husband had to deal with it, ugh! Poor thing - glad it ended for him!!

I did have a mild headache this morning, so I took the Excedrin anyway (like I said I am probably dealing with rebound headaches too - but the important thing is, it's getting less and less frequent!!)

And because I took the Excedrin along with my Vit B12 (which I really don't need anymore), I have been full of energy all day, and it is past midnight and I am not even sleepy, not a good thing bc I have to get up at 6am!!! LOL

Thanks again for everyone's advice - my migraine is officially gone!!! Its been four days - its officially over! Happy Dance Time! Woohooo!!
