Saw a neurologist today, due to arm numbness, I could of called what he said "your joints have no swelling, Lyme is really only found in Maryland and other Eastern states, but I cant figure out why your face went numb, arm went numb and you could barely walk"... my muscles and nerves worked great, Does everyone with Lyme have joint swelling? My ankles were swollen off and on a little... I just hate the fact that MOST Drs. Think because of lack if positive result on a FAULTY test that its not lyme! I have a cousin that is going through the same exact thing... it is SO frustrating, why isnt the cdc fixing this test or coming up with a better way to diagnose? So many people suffering... ok my rant ended! Lol

I feel you. I cannot deal with my mom's neurologist. You know that she won't even return my call for the lab results -it has been a week. Thankfully I requested them from the lab itself so we have had the result for 3 weeks now and we started alternative remedies at home. She has been on that for 2 weeks.
My mom has had this weird ankle swelling for years - almost like lipomas, soft and squishy. Her doc gave her diuretics to no avail. Now with mild detox, it has gone down considerably. Was that the start of all of this? Who knows ...

Lyme is an extremely inflammatory disease.

Numbness, cold extremities, joint pain and much more are common symptoms for Lyme. Go through the Welcome to Lyme section for a full list.

Imo if the CDC acknowledges the true number of people who have Lyme disease than the medical community will have to accept it. That would mean insurance companies would have to pay for all the treatment. Insurance company lobbyist are far too powerful to allow that to happen.

Bab- im sorry you are dealing with that... I always request the results as well! Drs. Should have bedside manners they have to follow...Jrpsf, you are very right, Studies show lyme might be transmitted sexually and by biting flies and mosquitoes, I get tons of bug bites! Imagine how much it would increase your chances if mosquitoes carried it, there are so many! So sad that so many people are being treated for other diseases and not getting better!

Thank you for your response and the link! I have a llmd thankfully! I am sorry yoi had to ho through that same thing! Its frustrating and makes you feel hopeless

Ha! My same experience with a nuero.

One again I was told "Chronic Lyme is a myth" .

My trembling- "lots of people have trembling" - as if thats normal? ***

Weak feeling legs and arms - "you need to work out more". My answer : I was a semi-pro athlete, I understand fitness more than than you do!. Nueros answer: no comment.

My morning blindness didnt seem to matter to the Nuero MD either.

Conclusion: Specialist conventional MD's are idiots.

Scary part was this was a younger under 30 nuero MD. I would think younger would mean open minded, nope!

Exactly! I get trembling muscle weakness a lot right during my last couple doses of antibiotics, but the neuro couldnt explain that either! At least they could "consider" lyme when no other explanations are valid

I have discovered that a lot of hand trembling is from shoulder and upper arm tendonitis. I get tendonitis sometimes from nothing! Doing triggerpoint release on the rotator tendons helps a little (it hurts when done), but must be repeated.

I had the same experience with a neurologist....I guess there used to everyone worshiping them. They don't know what humility is...and when to admit they are dead wrong about Lyme symptoms. I had the exact same symptoms you had....I was an above average athlete who had never been ill before and was alarmed about my predicament. The neurologist of course said I was fine and to see them in 3 months to see if it goes away....and then suggested the names of three psychiatrist to see. I am an educated health professional to boot...but was treated like a pouting child. I gave the neurologist a piece of my mind and promptly started looking for an LLMD.... who confirmed that I had Lyme and Babesia duncanii. The ignorance among doctors is stunning.

I have only had terrible experiences with neurologists. It is because of neurologists that I remained sick for so long. They don't know anything about Lyme.

I hope you find a LLMD to help you.
