I promised to a new member that contacted me to post about Propolis. I do not claim in cures from Lyme and co-infections, although I do find it to be amazing and if taken after one is bit, immediately, for maybe a few months, it may just as well be a cure.
It helps me a lot--after my son started to get seizures from Lyme and co. I started to slip towards being 25% symptomatic. So, I started to take propolis because Dr. K talks about using it, my sister used it for her daughter for leg pain (most likely she has Lyme because she was bit years ago but is no longer symptomatic except for insomnia) and a friend of mine is taking it (she has been bit as a child more times than she can remember--she was hanging out with her ship). So I figure, I'd try it--I have nothing to lose.
My son: 10 years old: he has been infected since August 2013. Pain level gets very bad; with propolis 2 times a day pain is manageable to 0 on some days, but he has some residual head pain from migrains. He did get a flare for 3 days where the pain was more severe than normal, but it may be a herx from Echinacea tea (?no idea) that I have been giving him--maybe some Lyme spirochetes died from it? or maybe it was a barto cycle that had nothing to do with Echinacea tea? Too soon to tell!
5 year old daughter: Infected in Fall 2014. Pain level gets bad but it is hard to measure since she is so little and she doesn't have anything to compare to. Her legs get weak. She is still not able to walk for long periods of times as she used to. Tonight she woke up at midnight because she was in pain. Gave her some propolis and she was asleep and pain free within 10 minutes and stopped crying.
I am not saying that propolis will cure one for lyme but I find it amazing. My son's seizures didn't returned. On his bad days (now rare, when counting severe pain days), I may give him 3 doses (3 half teaspoons) or 2 doses and 1 doze of tylenol. It is possible to use it instead of Tylenol. It decreases his migraines pain although it doesn't always stop the pain completely. He is after all in the worse shape of all of us. So although he was getting seizures every 2 weeks, the abx stopped it for a month and then with the use of propolis we are seizure free since Dec. 2nd 2014.
I do plan to take him to a LLMD on March 9th. BUt at least, for now, we have something very helpful to fall back on, rather than keep using Tylenol several times per day. After a few months on abx, I plan to continue with propolis and some herbs because I do not believe long term antibiotics is the answer. What is in the antibiotics is just as dangerous as the bacteria and long term abx I believe will live lots of unwanted ingredients in the body including heavy metals.
Propolis has been used since 350 BC. Of course if you look on webmd and NIH, you will see that it is given credit for very little and it is said that there is no evidence that Propolis helps for most of the conditions it is used for. It is much more loved in Europe than here for whatever reason and most people that use it that I ran into are in fact European. BUT: lets not forget that NIH, CDC, FDA etc say this about all products that are non-pharmaceutical. Very little credit is given to herbs and natural products, with some being even outlawed or declared weeds, although they have been used for over 1000 years in herbal medicine. It is also mentioned in Buhner's book but I forgot the condition he is listing it for.
In conclusion, yes, I am very happy with the product. It also helps with colds and the flu. I think it is a nice natural addition to anyone's protocol. It is a natural product, so it won't hurt your body like other abx. I hurt my back showing my son how to do some stretches LOL that just shows what kind of shape I am in LOL I took some for my back and the pain didn't go away but it helped, it persisted for 2 days and than it eventually disappeared completely. Weather or not propolis had something to it, I don't know. Maybe the pain would've went away either way, as it happens at times, although sometimes the pain becomes progressively worse for up to a couple of months due to herniated discs in a car accident. Nevertheless, from 25% return of symptoms I am now between 98%-100% symptom free depending on the day. It helps with both Lyme and Barto symptoms for myself and my 2 children, so Thank You, Propolis!
I hope this helps!
