What were your babesia herxes like?

Can you describe your babesia herxes? How long did they last? What were the symptoms? What was their severity?

I've been on mepron for 2 weeks. No other abx. The last 2 mornings I felt extremely exhausted and had increases anxiety and hot flashes. I'm pretty ill all morning. Usually by noon it blows over. But from 6 AM til noon, I feel awful. All I can do is lay on the sofa! I'm miserable. I'm guessing this is a herx?

Btw: I also take a bunch of Buhner herbs that I mix into a yummy cocktail. Lol. .....Hawthorne, houttuynia, sida, teasel root, and jap knotweed.

I'm still waiting for my insurance to approve my Zithromax!

Hi Utahgal, I've tried to answer your question a couple times today but was having a hard time revisiting those awful nights!

Sorry you are feeling so ill, but it sounds like you will make some good progress when you get on the other side of this.

Don't be afraid to back off your more curative herbs until you feel better but detox, detox!

Felt like a headache from a really bad hangover. I could go to sleep and usually wake up fine.

I was just wondering the same thing, I started Mepron right after you and I'm waiting for my second antibiotic as well. I haven't been feeling any different except the other night I had horrible insomnia. I'm not doing any herbs, but I might start adding some cowden herbs in soon.

I previously took Bactrim for Babesia and thought I was going to die from all the breathing issues it stirred up. I couldn't even stand up strait and was gasping for air constantly, my dr thinks it might have been an allergic reaction to Bactrim. God I hope so because if that was a babesia herx there is no way I could go through that for months on end, I felt like I was suffocating.

I've heard scary things about Babesia herxs! I'm paranoid of it.

*Heather had 5.5 months of terrible herxes from high doses of Mepron and Azithromycin for 5.5 months. she was also taking adult doses of Ceftin. Sometimes its difficult to isolate what herx was caused by what ABX, but I think that i can in this case. Heather experienced heavy drenching sweats, pain, and delerium in her sleep during this time. I have read that Babesia Duncani is malarial like, and can cause similar symptoms. These symptoms got worse with treatment, but gradually subsided with time toward the end of treatment.

Utahgal- I am very sorry to hear of your terrible symptoms. Are you making sure to detox thoroughly?

My insurance won't approve the Zithromax, so I'm going to take biaxin instead.

I've been treating my Babesia for a few months now and I feel like I have been on and off herxing the entire time. My biggest complaint is the exhaustion. I'm so tired all the time. Other than that, I have daily fevers, drenching night sweats (these have gotten better), headaches, facial pain, anxiety, a kind of floaty dizziness.

When I switched from Bactrim to Malarone I had a week long herx that was pure hell.

The fact that my babesia herx has been going this long does make me wonder if this is actually a herx or just babesia being babesia, but I DEFINITELY flare when I switch up my meds, so I'm hoping herx.
