Bizz:
Welcome!
I never found a tick on my body either, but I tested positive by WB. Never got a rash.
My son never found a tick on his body either, but tested negative by WB, although he did get the Bull's eye rash..
My older daughter didn't find a tick on her body either, but started to have symptoms of Lyme. Her WB test was negative.
My youngest daughter did find a tick on her body and has symptoms a few months later, got a rash, but her test came negative by WB.
Just because nothing shows up, doesn't mean you are not infected--and of course, I hope you are not. WB through regular labs many times comes negative. Some patients get negative WB but positive PCR (dead bacteria in their blood and/or urine is found present).
Through migratory birds, ticks can be found in California and I don't see why not in Florida, too. Some birds fly pretty far.
If you didn't have symptoms for so long, my guess is that you were somehow re-infected. I think it is unlikely you were symptom free for 20 years and then get symptoms. IMO, it is unlikely, but I am not saying it's impossible.
