clinic or medical destinations that helped?

can anyone with personal experience recommend a clinic or place to go where you can stay and get well rounded treatment for LD? or at least a place that is good at rebuilding the immune system.

I am exhausted from decades of schlepping to various doctors and treatment and trying to coordinate it all on my own. . I want to go somewhere and be treated, mind and body.

I have been to 2 places with limited success.
currently am looking at :

Sponaugle in florida,
sanoviv in Mexico,
VHI( vibrant health institute newly opened in Michigan),
Tree of life


......would like to hear personal experiences, not the " I saw it on YouTube" stuff as there is so much advertising. Many of these places are very expensive and I would do that, just don't want to shell out $10-40k without something besides a pretty website and slick sales folks passing themselves off as healthcare professionals.

Sorry to sound so cynical....been at this for 25 years.

That's hard to say since some people will get a lot of help at a clinic and others don't. Our needs are all different.

If you use the forum search function in the upper right of this page and search for Heathersdad Lyme, you can read many of his posts describing Heather's journey to health at the Hansa Center. hansacenter.com/ They also have a home protocol that is cheaper, but you miss out on some of the types of testing they do and it's not as tailored to your personal need as far as I know. I have no experience with them, but just wanted to mention them since they do work on getting one's body stronger to deal with the infection and Heather's dad wrote a lot about it. I hope you will find the place you need to be in the near future.

Good! Glad I could help. Did you look up Heathersdad? He did some detailed reports of his daughter's treatments.

If you decide to go, I hope you'll keep us posted on how it goes. You might want to do a forum search for other discussions on it too. Go into it knowing there are no guarantees with any clinic. I wish you the best!

If you look up Hansa online, I think it does have good reviews, better than a lot of the others.

Having said that, I'm just wondering . . . Why a clinic? Why not just a good LLMD?

You know what my "destination" would be?

A nice secluded resort in the Caribbean and a beautiful turquoise ocean.

Yes, I think the best Lyme care place is still in our imaginations. As good as some of these clinic's cures sound, most of them have you stay in a motel off site. So you are alone while you deal with the fallout of their protocol.

In the perfect situation you would be in a beautiful location, in a lovely room where they cook you super healthy food. You have your treatments and then the supportive therapies (saunas, massages etc.), and even some little fun to keep your spirits up. Oh, and someone would be dispatched off your real home to clean it, do all your paperwork and take care of your dog etc. Under that regime, you would heal so much faster, IMHO.

hi Margaret,
the biggest reason I want a destination is because I need to be away from my environment to focus on ONLY me. it is too hard to do that when I am home and because I was hoping to get many modalities in one spot. I have done this before with fairly decent results at a place in Florida, Hippocrates Institute, and they had many modalities in one spot and it was in sunny florida. also because I am not sure what I have I want a place that focuses on boosting immune function because, after all, I firmly believe that we still dont know all the bacteria we are getting when we get bit. I was dx'ed with LD and Erlichia in 1991 after yrs of being ill and was treated on and off for 10 yrs with abx. I am left with chronic Lyme and wicked pain that requires a pain mgmt doc.

I learned alot at Hippocrates but I think places like Hansa, Sponaugle, etc. may be more medically oriented. I have not treated my LD with abx for many yrs because I had a c.diff problem that became worse than the LD so Had to stop abx. I don't even know if I can do abx anymore so these places that do alternative treatments are very appealing to me.

I may still just go to an LLMD but that, to me, is only one piece of the puzzle. I think keeping your immune function strong is vitally important.

I believe those are all good reasons to be seeking out a clinic to go to, Donna. As long as you are aware that these clinics will only get you started, then they may be just the place for you! Many have gone and gotten a good start on their healing.

But I do have to agree with Achievinggrace...... :-)

I actually wasn't really joking about the Caribbean, and I didn't mean to sound flippant or anything.

The Caribbean has always been a very healing place for me, and I often think about my visits there.

I support you in whichever search proves the most beneficial.
