I am so depressed and aching and hurting I usually don't do anything for myself but when I looked in the mirror I was just so upset... I just wondered does anyone else color their hair? I know it's not great but I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs so I get a free pass right? :) just kidding I figured I would ask here because I don't have anyone to turn to for ?'s I have

Well, we shouldn't - the chemicals are very toxic to the body ...but I do colour my hair...not as often as I used to...but still do.

Now there are natural yogurt based permanent colors with no odor, no harmful chemicals, and they work great.

Last week I was supposed to get a color and highlight. Didn't feel well, told my color guy to do just a quick color so I could go home. He said, "Highlights will only take a few more minutes, I'll get you out quick, really!"
Ha, that was a fib!
But two hours later I left feeling like a million bucks and the highlights look great. Glad he gave me that little push.

Ditto to the 2 respones above! Try to find a natural formula if you can. Otherwise, use one that is on the hair for a shorter amount of time (like, 10 minutes) and stay in a well-ventilated area while it works.

We know it's not good for the body but sometimes you just need a pick-me-up!

I go to the health food store and purchase mine, it doesn't have all the bad stuff in it. It's called herbatint.

So, do these natural ones cover grey hair? I've got some of those...lol.

I know that the hennas that you buy at health food stores don't do a good job on grey.

Anyone know of a brand that is less toxic, that will cover those few grey sprouts I have?

If it colors your hair for more than a few days, it's not natural. Sorry ladies.

Except for henna, natural hair dyes don't exist.

it's the only color that doesn't give me an "Insta-migraine."

zero odor and colors my very coarse, resistant gray. the color doesn't fade any faster than the nasty stuff.
the salon i go to also uses a color containing squid ink. haven't tried that yet!

lyme has left me very pale and with awful dark circles under my eyes. coloring my hair has made me look a lot less "sick."
